So after reading the nasty bit of business in the Dark Eldar codex about how Urien Rakarth turned a bunch of Tau into wracks, I was thinking about converting some spare Firewarriors I have into wracks. I was just going to lop off their hands, fuse some poky bits in their place, and scuff them up a bit.

Would you find that an acceptable conversion, given the fluff? Or is that taking too much liberty with artistic license?

I would. Worth around the same points from memory (haven't read the tau codex in a while). Can i suggest maybe covering them with coven markings and maybe convert some scissorhands/DE weapons even if its just for show. Big rusty knives and the like. And make one out of a flagellant too look like pyramid head as the leader of the unit

But in short id play that

Size wise they would work, fluff they would work, so go for it. you could keep the rifle and mod it a little bit to use as a liquifier gun for one of them. I would play ya

As long as its not massively larger or (more likely) smaller, definitely.

If they are majorly different in size... still would play it as long as you didn't abuse that.

Mine are 2nd ed ork and Dark Elf warrior hybrids, plus bits box additives.

Never had a complaint yet.

Your concept sounds fine, as long as the size is about equal.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

As long as they are similarly sized and don't look like plastic spikes just stuck onto tau, then yes. I dislike "conversions" that are just random bits cobbled haphazardly onto something.

I'd totally play against it! Understandably, they'd be a little bit smaller, but I don't think it would be too big of a deal, at least from my standpoint. I play DE and I particularly enjoy that piece of lore concerning Urien Rakarth and the Tau, and I'd like to see some diversity across a DE board, especially if they're playing the Carnival of Flesh

Sounds good. Though it might be better to use Pathfinders, as they're not as heavily armoured as Firewarriors. Wracks do not have much armour after all.
