Hi all, I am trying to figure out a 1000 point starter list for nids and having real problems coming up with something solid.

My main plan is to avoid a swarm list, just finishing an ork army and have a ton of guardsmen to paint as well so any horde units are really on the back burner!

I also dont want to use a Flyrant, I know they are supposed to rule but I really want to stick to a mostly ground based army.

Tactics pretty simple, its a walking wall throwing out alot of pie plates that then will hit like a hammer when it reaches you! Tyrant in the middle with Venom tucked in behind, warriors flanking him and Fex's outside that.

My concerns are the Tyrant unit may be too expensive for this size of force and also I would have liked to add rending claws and deathspitters to the warriors but can't find the points.

Only thing bought so far is 1 Fex (unbuilt) as I got a bargain.

I only play once in a blue moon and mostly paint but I do try to put together lists that at least have a glimmer of hope!

What is your theme other then mostly ground forces? Also the lone crone will never kill any flyers by itself (unless your really lucky) so maybe buy him/her a friend? Also invest in more range templates because even with no real melee weapons nids tend to eat most armies.

I kinda thought I had templates covered, 4 Large blasts, 1 High str blast (could change that to a Stranglethorn cannon as well) plus the crones template weapon.

Add in the 18 TL dev shots and the crones V stike and I kinda hoped ranged attacks where covered. The 3 devourer armed models can also help the crone to down aircraft.
