Is there a quick resource card out there for Brushfire? Anyone have the basics in soft copy so I can put one together?

Also, has anyone tried to make an excel army builder for Brushfire?

Thanks.

The PDFs for the Cards come with the Second Edition books Historia Rodentia and Journey to the East, but not the Digest version.

You can find the downloads on WargameVault. IIRC, you participated in the beta testing, so they should still be on your account.

I have tried to make an excel army builder for myself, but no luck so far. I always have run into some problems. I don't know what would the On the Lamb guys think about that since it would have to contain most unit statistics.

I believe you have to buy the army decks in wargame valut separately. Actually it's in by card basics by some reason and I only find the Aquatar deck as a bundle. Weird, no Exomorph cards either.

By the way is there any point of having the digest version if you have the two base books already?

The cards are up as singles since they're all avaliable as print on demand products, so you can order them as replacements should someone lose or damage their cards, or just wants extra. Same with the books as they are finished, with the added bonus of they'll ship from a more local source. (WGV Print on Demand products ship from Tennessee for US/Canada orders and somewhere in the EU for EU/UK orders)

For the Digital version? No, but the paperback is handy to have since the full books aren't available as a paperback yet. When they are it'll still be handy as a smaller more compact book for quick reference.

If I buy the Exomorph army book, will I get the exomorph cards as well?

Yes, you'll get digital cards. There is unfortunately not a way for us to set it up so you also get the print cards with the print book yet, but its one of the things WGV is supposed to add in the future.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
On the subject of army enlistment manager software, I would not be opposed to someone creating a list builder and making it freely available. We've attempted to hire people to do this in the past, but have not had luck with anyone actually delivering.

My only request is to handle things like the 40k Datafiles for Army Builder, and don't write out rules in the list builder. (ie its cool to say X unit has 'Pathfinder', but not cool to then say what Pathfinder does.)

I don't think I'll try the excel army builder again as for me it seems easier to go with a database and a custom software than excel. It is just too much of a hassle.

There is just too much variability. The Heroes can discount some units, Vandaland can shift resources, some units have "either this or that" price, some heroes give you free units, some units unlock other units you can bring in, there are stances and this all should work together somehow.

I'll get the cards when opening the deck from my tablet gets too fiddly.

Anyone knows if this would be compatible with Brushfire?

Nope, aside from just being a pain in the ass to make datafiles for and the costs, there isn't support for the Three Resource System.

Army Builder xml is not fun. Not even a little.

I use spreadsheets for a lot of games, and I've taken a stab at making a xlsx spreadsheet army builder for a single faction of different games, but it's tedious, to say the least. There is a lot involved including good vbscript skills, advance knowledge of Excel, and exceptional proofreading skills. If you want to be able to select units from a dropdown and have stats and points enumerated for you automatically, it's not worth your time. You will never reclaim the total time and effort you would put into a spreadsheet or xml solution vs just doing it by hand.

I do, however use several spreadsheets to add up points. Just list the unit and it's upgrades in one column and the points of the item in another and use conditional formatting to turn a cel red when you're over points.

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary."

Making one spreadsheat for every fraction is a way better approach. Why didn't I thought about that?
