Subject: Painting Bloodcrushers - Highlighting help required!
I'm currently working on my bloodcrushers and got stuck. With all those overlapping armour plates it seems likethe ideal model for highlighting edges but I'm not sure what colour to use for this. I've chosen Valejo Tinny Tin as the main color for armour plates and would love to give the unit somehow a demonik touch but I'm not sure whether highlighting the edges with red would work. What would you use? Also, any other criticism is welcome.

I think it'd just look strange. Unless you did it to make it look like the edges are glowing, so build up a glow effect. Work from thin dark red to orange or yellow, that could look cool... maybe... or maybe not, it's hard to picture.

How stupid would it look if I go for it and go with red highlights on the egdes?
With Tinny Tin, I don't know.... I think your model is a bit too monochrome (might be washout from the light on the metalics that is making it look that way) I'd look for ways to highlight the difference in the metals. So for the grey's I would go for shadows highlighting back up the raised spots (not the edges). For the tin and golds I would go as bright on the edge highlights as I dared.
If you want a good red on this model, I would personally get thet chaos star in the middle shinning bright with some yellows and oranges blended to make it look like a fire coming out of it.
Honestly, I thought about making some OSL originating at this chaos star on the front legs but that would be my first attempt at OSL and I have neither great skills at layering, highlighting nor wet-blending so I think I'll spoil what's been done so far if I try it.
Also, that chaos star is a recess, so painting inside it is pretty difficult, the foto is like 600% bigger than the actual model. So i'm not too eager to try some black magic here...

I wouldn't mess with OSL on it but some brighter orange/yellow at the edges of the star would help give if a bit of depth. Yes it would help to use two brush blending.
I wouldn't use a wash but I would two brush blend it. You will have more control and its an awesome skill to have (heck I'm still learning how to do it effectively and its amazing even when first trying it).
@Ifurita: I tried out Agrax on Tinny Tin when I painted my orks. It's almost invisible. If you want to shade Tinny, go for a black wash.
I've decided on giving the edges a highlight with Valejo Brass. It blends in with the other brass ornaments and doesn't look too strange. Did some minor details with Gunmetal Grey to break up the monotony. Will upload a picture of the finished model when I have the rider done.
