Winged Hive Tyrant (2x Scytals, Old Adversary): 270
Winged Hive Tyrant (2x TL Dev /w Brainleech): 230

Haruspex (Adrenal Glands): 175
Zoanthrope x1: 50
Venomthrope x1: 45

30 Termagants (20 Flesh 10 Dev): 160
11 Termagants (11 Flesh): 44
Tervigon: 195

Harpy (Stranglethorn): 135

Carnifex x3 (all Scytals /w Adrenal Glands): 405
Mawloc: 140

Total: 1849

This is for more of a casual setting, not tournament. I love cc MC's so I'm pretty set in sticking with the cc Hive Tyrant, Haruspex, and 3 Scytal Carnifexes. Besides that though, is there anything I should change up? I also have: 3 Shrikes, 10 Gargoyles, 40 Hormagaunts, Hierodule (Escalation)

Thanks!

Why is your first Flyrant 270 points? And where are his devourers?

9 MCs at 1850 is good but otherwise there seems little direction on some weird choices:

Haruspex? Why just why? 175 points to kill just over 2 marines on the charge on average (2.3611). A 135 point Carnifex kills 2.083 so is a far more efficient choice.

Harpy with Stranglethorne is also a little weird Nids need the ranged AT more than anything. Stealers and Warriors are for pinning.

Fexes without guns also feels a waste unless you were spamming fleet CC MCs. In which case I'd drop the Harpy, Haruspex, the extra gaunts and gaunt upgrades and get another brood of 3 adrenalfexes.

I'll have to double check the Flyrants point cost with Old Adversary and wings, and I wanted one CC hive tyrant (as said in my post...) because I just love that model.

I have to believe that the Haruspex will kill more than 2 marines in a game and do better than a similar cc fex... otherwise why have the model in existence? Plus like I said in my post that's one model in the list I'm using for fluff/model liking heh

I've read that the Stranglethorne is by far the better choice rather than the Heavy Venom Cannon, I figured I have some anti-tank with some of the other MC's

I understand your point about the fexes being better with many other CC fexes... I was thinking about building them all as dakkafexes I just think they look so silly >.<

I was also thinking about dropping the Haruspex if I had to and adding an Exocrine or more venomthropes/zoanthropes.

I'm definitely not trying to go super competitive math hammer with this list, if I was I would definitely have 2 flyrants with tl debs and carnifexes with tl debs, etc.

Just wanted to fine tune this list as much as it can be while keeping some of the units I really want to use like the cc tyrant and haruspex

The Devourer HT is still a CC beast give him Old Adversary and/or Toxin and he'll kill almost anything.

For the Haruspex I was talking about his CC punch in a single phase. Ws3 just 3 attacks and S7 make him very mediocre in CC for his points. Point for point the Carnifex is massively superior in CC and to be honest I don't know why they put the Haruspex in the codex with its current rules it is entirely useless. Beautiful model though

Do you want your MCs assaulting Rhinos, Chimeras etc or the contents? The HVC means that you can hurt vehicles from range. The same is true of the Devourers on the HT allows you to kill those transports so you can assault the contents.

My advice is purely based on what will make the list more effective. Of course you should always take the models you love and want to build/paint/play with over what makes the list most effective. Having said that the Haruspex really is woeful in this codex. It's a slow moving CC tarpit which I just don't get for Nids.

Hmm all of that makes sense. I think I'll change the Harpy to HVC, Haruspex to an Exocrine for some more ranged, and change around the Hive Tyrants, I did overlook the cc capability of the Devourer HT in my blind rage to cc overload! hahah

Thanks for the tips!

I think I'll also take the termagants bare with no devs

Are Adrenal Glands a must on even Devourer Flyrants? Or do people usually take two of them mostly naked
