Revell Models sells 1/48 snap-tite kits for $13 that work very well for PzIV and Sherman tanks.
Yes, they have to be primed and seriously repainted unless you want them to look like something from a monster truck rally.

But...a typical tank model or miniature tank around this scale is running btw $30-$40.
For $28, I bought a Panzer IV AND a Sherman for my two Bolt Action armies.

They are slightly larger than the 1/56 scale but that actually make them look more reasonable.

What's with those weird paint jobs? Are they selling models for some sort of WW2 AFV demolition derby wargame?

They're snap-tite and they've made up some little sci-fi blerb to match. Presumption is they're targeting the kiddies who might be turned off by OD green or middlestone yellow base paint jobs.

Agreed they're garish-looking but they prime and paint over without any problem. At the scale I prefer for my 28mm WW2 AND at 1/3 the price, it was not difficult for me to make the plunge.

I'm kind of tempted to field those as is just to see my opponent's head explode in disbelief

The Sherman is passable, the Panzer however, horrible proportions!

Sherman has the suspension of an Easy 8 but everything else looks like a regular M4A3. I'd be tempted to try and find an Easy 8 turret to put on it but by that point I would think you'd be better off just buying a correct model

Personally I'd pay a bit more for a HobbyBoss kit then, they're in the proper scale, have the proper proportions and while not as cheap, will most certainly not induce rage in les grognards.
