Been a while since I've played Guard, so I've got a question. Is it still possible to use the Special Weapons squad equipped with 3 demolition charges loaded into a Vendetta as a viable (if risky) way to play?

I'm both orderly and rational. I value control, information, and order. I love structure and hierarchy, and will actively use whatever power or knowledge I have to maintain it. At best, I am lawful and insightful; at worst, I am bureaucratic and tyrannical.

Went to a Tourney right after the new space marines codex came out. Dropped a SWS w/ 3 Demo charges next to a squad of centurions. 90 pts of guardsmen killed 300 pts of Marine cheese. The look on his face was priceless...

"I am Marbo Legion, because we are many and bring demo charges"

Being optimistic´s worthless if it means ignoring the suffering of this world. Worse than worthless. It´s bloody evil.

I fielded a Demo SWS today, my opponent deepstriked a Deathwing Deathstar within walking distance and I wiped the entire squad bar Belial and two Terminators.

I had one scatter back and kill 5/6ths of the squad, but eh, 95 points vs well more than 300. Acceptable losses, I say.

I have not tried 3 demo charges yet but I am strongly considering it now. I have done demo and 2 flamers which proved great at clearing units in cover.

Demo vets with melta guns are also good in 6th ed. The melta guns are assault so you can shoot them and then assault a MC in close combat with 10 melta bombs. The trick is to wait for the MC to come to you so don't expose the squad to enemy fire trying to get near it. It's also unreliable on MC with a 7+WS, but it can make short work of TMC, riptides without a 3++ active, or a wounded wraithknight.

Flamers are usually good for a PCS or a BS3 unit.

Plasmas are expensive and best reserved for BS4 units.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

I usually take triple plasmas on Veteran Squads, but then again I usually go up against Tyranids
