So my friend gave me this idea of 6x20 man crusadersquads, but i am concerned over these things: Antiair(yes take a flyer i.e. Stormtalon and aegis, but i am afraid that isn't enough)
AV14 Vehicles- one meltabomb and 2 powerfists per squad... hmmm, viable?
Does anyone have experience with this build??

Well, this is either good news or bad news (probably bad news) to hear but my brother and I decided to do a series of 'the best bad idea' games and Templar Blob was one of my, well, best bad ideas. The build itself is pretty hilarious, in my opinion, and that in and of itself is fun. And there are certainly armies out there that would find 120 Templar bodies on the table a scary prospect (I don't have that many infantry in my IG army, and that's Guardsmen we're talking about!). If you go for Boltguns over Pistol/CCW then I think you'll give traditional foot hordes a run for their money and I imagine you *might* be able to overwhelm some MEQ builds--in particular I think Drop Pod armies might have a problem Alpha-striking such a huge, tough mass of redundancy.

On the other hand it's ridiculously vulnerable to a ton of stuff. Battle Cannons (and similar big scary blasts) will have a field day with your blobs. Helldrakes are going to absolutely murder the army (if there are multiple drakes then it'll be very hard for the Stormtalon and ADL to handle them--they're tough bastards). Tau will shoot you off the board. Eldar will kite you and shoot you off the board. And pretty much any army packing a ton of templates is going to kill a lot of your units--it'll be really hard to optimally space 120 marines to defend against templates.

That being said, if you want to run it, run it. It'll surprise some opponents and do wonders. Other times it'll be good for a laugh, at least.

Yes, thanks for the info, i might play this vs a friend with footsloging choppa boyz army, for the lulz, it will make for an interesting battlereport atleast, but for competitive lists, 3x20 crusaders will do, also take flak missilelaunchers, ADL, and a talon, vindictors etc...

Heldrakes come in earliest at turn two. They will vector strike and flame you. Proper coherency should keep the body count low. You might have to weather a turn or two of this. By end of turn two, you should <hopefully> be assaulting or close to it <depending on deployment>...it can be done. I saw an 'green tide' Ork player win a tournament and he played against two Tau opponents with 2 riptides apiece. You can always field Cypher <if allowed in your local meta> to infiltrate a blob. You can also ally in a Inquisitor with the Liber Heresisus and Scout the unit he is attached to forward. Once your in CC, Heldrakes and blast templates are useless.

Yea, dataslates are allowed, but you have to ask your opponent. It's pretty open gaming club. so 9/10 it's allowed :-)

Land raiders > Hell drakes

besides by turn two you should be at the enemies door ready to charge (18" t1, 6" + 2d6" t2)

let those hell drakes fly around and do absolutely nothing.

In principle giant blobs coming out of giant bricks should work depending on the terrain and set up.

Quoted for emphasis. It's pretty true.

If you're not going the Land Raider route, another idea is simply to make sure there's nowhere for the Heldrake or other flyer to land. With giant blobs of 20 marines, it's possible with spacing to make it extremely difficult for flyers to function the way they'd want to. If the Heldrake is only able to use it's Baleflamer because there's nowhere for it to land if it moves over your guys to Vector Strike, it's probably not going to make it's points back.

16 man occupancy limit > 20 man blob. You would have to lighten your blobs. That being said, do something funny and buy a 10 man assault crusader squad, toss it in a stormraven, and bring a pair of killy characters. Throw in a Furioso dreadnought allied in for sheer giggles.

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."
