They are T5, 2W, 2+ save marines. S&P, not relentless.
You can think of the assault ones as terminators with no invuln. They will blender anything they touch, but getting them to CC is going to be an issue, and they can’t take hits nearly as well.
The shooty one can pack a lot of firepower, and are resistant to anything their 2+ will help with. But they aren’t going anywhere fast, cost a lot of points, and will evaporate against anything AP2.
From across the table they are something to keep your eye on. But hardly some unstoppable power-deathstar.

Take 3 grav-centurions with a buffmander and put them in cover and enjoy the 36" no go zone they create.
I've never seen the assault centurions used by anyone so I can't comment on them. But the dev centurions, either las or grav can be very deadly.

They are a super expensive unit that has great firepower. On average dice a unit of 3 will put down even a riptide (as long as it doesn't nova charge the shield) or a wraithknight (even with shield) in a single shooting phase. They do however evaporate under the return fire from either opponent and are significantly out ranged.

Smoked a 7 man Salamander termie squad in one round of shooting from 2 grav cents last saturday. The sarge with omniscope and TL/LC blew up a razorback with 2 tac marines that same turn. That was their first time on the table. Um sold on em.

Yep, same here. If they can mitigate AP2 and range (24" insnt as bad as it sounds as long as you take one gun with longer range to make sure you can put wounds on models outside the 24" bubble) there is very little they cant kill.
In one game my grav cents ate about a squad and a half of marine bikers, and about 10 death company.
In one game I saw 3 assault cents with flamers and 2 hurricanes eat 10 assault marines, 3-4 honour guard, a chapter master and about a half a dozen tac marines. (none of these units had AP2 weapons).
So yeah, expensive and vulnerable to AP2, but able to just delete whole units when you do get them where they need to be.
