Does this monstrous fortification fire by someone manning it's massive cannon, or does it shoot with the automated rule? There is some models with a very high BS, and firing it with it, you can hardly miss with a LArge blast template. If this turns out to be true, I'm going to have to pick one up.

It can be manually fired. Some forfications state that they cannot be manually fired, Aquilla strongpoint isnt one of them.

Thanks, just had to make sure. If you had a character with BS 10, you'd virtually never miss. Awesome.

Just remember that massive fortifications still die on a 2+ if they're hit by a D-weapon. Expect to be really disappointed by your expensive new toy. It isn't worth the 500+ points it costs, and it certainly isn't worth investing an expensive high-BS character to boost its accuracy a bit.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Not only will it die on a 2+ if hit, there's a chance it will die if you roll a 1.

Isn't it the cheapest D-Weapon in the game? All the other models with a D-Weapon cost more points, right? Plus, you're getting an awesome fortification for the rest of your army, and a few more options that make it better.

It's funny watching a game with D-weapons. Each D-weapon shoots at the other one until it's destroyed, then they focus on the rest of the army. In other words, it's usually the person that goes first and fires their D-Weapon that wins the game.

Orks can get one at 400pts mounted on a Kill-Bursta.
Cheapest one I can think of.
It has a much better chance of surviving a Str. D hit than a building.

the Eldar have the cheapest D weapon comming in at a meager 320 points, the Necrons come in a close second with the pylon.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
also don't forget that you can buy void shields for it too to add a little defence to it.

on top of that, its only susceptible to D weapons once those shields have dropped and every shot aimed at your fortification is one less nasty shot aimed at the rest of your army.

if you plan accordingly it can be a nice big 'can't ignore me' while your real threat units can nail their targets.

I didn't think the Lynx was still that cheap, I thought it's cost went up? Or did it go up to 320?
