After some advice from some seasoned CSM/Daemon players about which option would generally be better in the tourney scene?

Be'lakor - 350
or
(CSM) Daemon Prince, Black Mace, Wings, Armour, Lvl3, Gift, Spell Famil, MoT - 365 (mark to taste ect)

I know a lot of people will want to know in what situation - looking at 1750 - 1850points (maybe some at 1500) with the DP supporting a Necron/CSM (think Tomb Kings Ugly Misfits style of lists) so he will be a solo DP flying around drawing firepower and killing what he can. Not much buffing to do on the CSM side - more being a 1 man wrecking ball that can survive as long as possible.

Initially I was thinking the DP would be better than Be'lakor due to chance of Iron Arm/Endurance but I'm starting to lean towards Be'lakor for his control abilities over Riptides/Wraithknights and the like.

Any advice appreciated!

I've found daemon princes in general to be cost inefficient (obvious, I know), At least with Belakor you get eternal warrior without having to roll for it, and he can do some great buffs with his telepathy.

Why dont you proxy both in games, see which works better for you and then buy whichever you favour.

At the risk of being annoying for plugging my own stuff, I'm a huge believer in Be'lakor (assuming the tournament allows you to run him). I wrote way too many words on his viability here:

A good advert for Be'lakor but he seemed to rely a lot on been buffed by other DPs..

I am after people thoughts on running him solo or the DP with bling solo and which would be the better option in most cases?

They both can be equally useful while Be'Lakor is a bit more reliable cause u're getting Puppet mastery and remove fear in any case. If you lean towards combat and some possible debuffs - why not get a ml3 sorc + spawns. They're way tougher than a dp for the same price.

Be'lakor sounds like he might be better against TAU and Eldar due to Riptides and WKs - however Serpents look like they could do a number on him. The DP with bling looks like he would be better against other armies where killing MC's is not such a big deal. This is me just guessing though as I have not had much use with either.

As for the Spawn & Sorc instead of either Belly or a DP - I want the allied fast attacks slot for a drake!

I would say be'lakor in this case, simply because he will do more than simply be a beatstick and is more reliable.

Overall though DP's are generally best left to Daemons players imo. They have more synergy and buffs to throw round.

It is totally dependent on the list. Be'Lakor is a MC hunter and buff machine/utility box for the rest of the army. The tooled out DP is murder against anything with Str less than 10 but gives little benefit to the rest of the list and will be smashed like a fly against practically any MC. If you are desperate for anti horde go DP whereas if you need something to charge a WK or riptide then Be'Lakor.

I personally would almost always go with Be'Lakor if given a choice of a CSM HQ. The only reasons in my opinion to take the others is to put them in a unit and unlock elite troops. I always prefer utility in my HQ choices though.
