I was looking for small bugs to make a thorax swarm. I was planing on placing them around the body of a tyranid that uses it. If they looked something like the scarabs from the Tomb Kings that would be nice.

Is there any where that I can buy small bugs? To use for thorax swarm. Idealy I would place them walking around on the monsterus creature as small insects.

Try looking at kids' toys (although they might be too big).

There is nothing I can find with my google-fu that doesn't look tacky.

I might suggest converting some out of Tyranid parts or hiring a sculpter, you may end up paying the same as you would trying to buy some non-tacky miniature plastic incects.
To me snipping of the tail of this Hive Tyrant would be a start to converting a convincing thorax swarm tyranid...

Some good ideas but not what I am thinking of... I will think about it a bit.

sculptor is your best bet sorry, but i have an the muumy toy somewhere, and it came with about twenty right sized scarabs. il call my mother and see if we still have it (i am 14), and if we do il use a my scalpel to cut it off and send them to you (they are individual) but i dont think i have it anymore ....

the shrouded lord, while that is a generush thought I would not want you to do a serch and find scarabs for me. I will be fine.

what I am looking for though is the winged scarab from the tomb king sett. That would be very good. I have some TK so I have some, but I would need a lot of them.

Use the toxin sacs and just put a little green stuff on them as legs, mandibles and what not. They already look like grubs/lava and are tiny and you should have heaps spare.
