Im going to preface by saying I know Farsight Enclaves isn't the only army to benefit greatly from this fortification. Vanilla Tau, Orks with burna boys, Grey Knights with purgation squads and probably more, I just believe FE:S benefits the most.

Before we talk about what we gain we should take a look at what it costs us. The biggest cost is the Aegis Defence line with either its comma relay (my favorite for outflanking kroot and deep striking suits) as well as the ubiquitous quad gun. The loss of the aegis line hurts castle tau far more than the standard FE:S player as there will likely be less light infantry in your backfield, and the pipes can be used as a poor mans aegis Kansas our backfield units can either mostly rely on armour ( Sides, skyrays,) and are less penalized by the loss of the aegis. Or can use JSJ and BLOS to keep safe. Now the loss of the comma relay is still a big deal as cheap reserves control is a big deal.

Now lets talk about what we gain, the dual flamer crisis suit which is already a good buy for FE:S (6 Flamers, 6 Meq wounds and JSJ for 99 pts is a steal). Now lets start with some math, currently a crisis suit has a threat range of ~14" 6" move and 8" flamer more if you include your jump move. That means they create a bubble of 615 inches^2 around them (3.14*14^2) but lets include the data for the torrent flamer suits, 6+12+8" threat or a 2123 in^2 area or nearly 2/3 of the board. We nearly quadrupled the possible targets each turn. All for less than the cost of a deathrain suit. For 238 pts I can have 12 yes 12! Torrent flamers on a jsj chassis.

For deployment I would almost always drop the pipeline at the middle of the board, sure you sacrifice your first turn of shooting, but turn two onwards you can control nearly the entire board. Since weapons are heavy torrent you dont have to worry to much about the enemy stealing the pipe, as there arent any relentless fast movers with access to large volumes of flamers.

It's pretty strong. As an added bonus you can get it as a part of the Void Relay Network. You don't really lose that much in terms of cover saves either (compared to an ADL) as you can model those structures pretty liberally.

12 torrent flamer suits?

Why not 18?

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

What does this asset give you? Sounds like Salamanders and pre-heresy Death Guard would benefit as well.

HOw would they work for tyranid thorax weapons?

They likely would, but they would have a far smaller threat range (no relentless and slower movement) or far fewer turns of shooting. (No relentless) as well as a higher points cost for each flamer.

The big caveat is the the Promethium Relay states only flamer weapons as defined by the 40K rulebook. That list is pretty small.

The Crisis suit combo is pretty interesting.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
