Hello dakka, I'm looking for a good alternative artillery emplacement.

I like the Forgeworld ones but my wallet dose not.

anyone know any good replacements?

I've seen some decent jobs done with 1/32 or 1/48 scale artillery. Any sort of large howitzer would work and just add random guardsmen as crew.

Personally I just made a set of 3 earthshaker cannons out of plastic tubing and made carriages out of plastic sheet and square tubing. Looks okay, not spectacular, but serves the purpose just as well as the FW models for pennies on the dollar.

In fact, Kromlech just announced this awesome piece:

1/35th scale artillery kits are what you need.

Here is a selection from Hobby Link Japan. You should be able to find these kits and others from local sources if you don't want to order from Japan.

40K uses well oversized weapons for models, so I advise you to buy the biggest gun you can. An early WW2 anti-tank gun, or a 75mm howitzer model, probably won't look much more impressive than a heavy bolter.

Don't buy the railway howitzer though. That genuinely is huge.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
