The question is, when a challenge in finished, and one model dies, but there are multiple characters and the squads are still in combat for several turns, can a new challenge be issued?
RAW have two contradictory sentences in the BRB (i have the small version)
PG 64 "Only one Challenge can be issued per close combat"
PG 65 "Even though further challenges cannot be issued in a combat until the existing challenge has been resolved..."
To me this says, you can only have one challenge active at a time, and if refused or resolved a new one can be initiated.
Those are my thoughts, could you answer the 3 questions below, evidence and conjecture are welcome.
So can there be more than one in combat if one is resolved?
I assume if someone is killed via a challenge you must wait till the next turn to challenge again, as that model has already used up their attacks, is this true?
If a challenge is refused can you then challenge the other character or would you have to wait until the next turn, as no combat has yet be resolved?
