Subject: Daemon Prince Be'lakor - He's alot smaller than I expected

Having got the Dataslate rules for Be'lakor I ran him with a proxy a couple of times and decided I needed to get the proper model. I looked for an old metal one on ebay but they were all a little expensive so I bit the bullet and got myself a finecast one.
I've not had the best experiences with finecast in the past but I must say this was a joy to assemble and paint, the detail was really crisp and I didn't need to do any fiddly pinning. The only issue was his sword which was a little out of shape but I reshaped it with a hairdryer and it is acceptable is not perfect.
One thing to note that I didn't realize about the model is its size, its tiny! I'd hear people say that it was small but until seeing the model in the flesh (or resin) I hadn't understood how small. The main body isn't much bigger than a terminator and only the wings give it any size at all, that said it's a really nice pose and still looks badass unless you put it next to something more imposing.
I went for a quite monochrome scheme as my daemon army is very colour based and I didn't want to veer into one of the Gods territory as he is not affiliated to a single one of them.
Let me know what you think.

It is noticeably smaller than other DPs. A friend got the model on eBay a couple years ago just because it was a cheap DP, and it was nicely painted and well based. But it sticks out next to his other DP kits.
It's a fantastic model though. Yours is painted clean and crisp and good looking. Good job!

It's spelled "cavalry." NOT "calvary." |

I think it makes sense. I remember a few books back that it actually said "model the demon prince on a 40mm base". I think the plastic Demon Princes are way too big for a model that is only toughness 5.
Looks good

Your not wrong about my basing, always the weak point of my models. I'm a little OCD and they have to all be matching in the army so I don't do complicated ones.
Here's a size comparison shot with a normal prince and a terminator.
Doesn't look to bad but he is standing on a rock.

Thanks for the size comparison, I actually thought it would look even smaller.
Well, hes in good company, not even the greater deamons can size up to the plastic DP. Those bloodthirsters need some spectacular bases not to look silly by the princes.
Among deamons, bulk is not proportional to their might, apparently.
Nice paint job by the the way! Could do with something more on the base though.

Gravel pebbles from any hobby store or every glued rocks spray painted black and dry brushed grey would give it a little more flair or some skulls and rusted weapons.

Very good painting. I have always liked that model and you have done him justice. The base does need work though. Post more when you have time.
