Hey Dakka! Long time no see!

I've relapsed. I've not painted anything in a while but I've felt the need to add some stuff to the fledgling Tau force I started a few years ago. The trouble is, the main colour I used - Citadel's Nauseating Blue - has long since ceased production. I had a workaround - Regal Blue and Warlock Purple, mixed together, make the right colour - but (you've guessed it) they're out of production too!

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to source more? There are sellers on eBay that sell Regal Blue and Warlock Purple, but they're very expensive and it's a convoluted way to get the colour I need. I also see that Vallejo make a Nauseating Blue but I've never used their paints before - do they mix well with Citadel paints?

Thanks in advance for your help, guys and girls.

Acording to my "WarPaint" app, Vallejo has "sick blue" New GW is "Xerues Purple", and Reaper is "Burgundy Wine"

Coat D'arms is where you want to go. They used to make GW's old paint range.

Ye and no... I don't recall exactly when Nauseating Blue was dropped. If your paint was in the old round or hexagonal pop-top pot, then yes, Coat D'arms will have it. If it was from the later 'bolter shell' screw or pop-tops, or the itty-bitty teeny-weeny Newpot style, it will be slightly different, as even though they kept the same names, the paints all changed very slightly when GW changed paint suppliers.

To clarify, they supplied them with the first flip top pots (which became the hex pots); not the "bolter shell" ones; so the colours need a little fudging in places (for example, from my own experience, CDA brown ink is equivalent to "bolter shell" generation chestnut ink. CDA chestnut is more like flesh wash).

You should be alright with CDA. They do a colour called "Nauseous Blue". Good luck!

EDIT: Insaniak typed pretty much the above when I was posting.

Having said all of that, I would strongly recommend Coat D'Arms paints anyway. They're bigger pots at a cheaper price than GW's current offerings, they don't dry out (I have pots from 1994 that are still usable despite their lids being cracked), and with a couple of exceptions (yellows are a little light on pigment so tricky to get good coverage, and some of their metals, copper particularly, aren't as good as some other companies offer nowadays) they give good coverage. They are also still offering the exact same range of paints that was available in the '90s... so no need to change colours every 3 and a half minutes as has been the case with GW chopping and changing their range at the drop of a hat.

Ugh. Remind me in future to buy at least four pots of any main colour I ever want to use.

Lol I started doing that with my most popular colors, red gore for example and some foundation paints
