So I just bought the Speeder Model and am trying to figure the best way to utilize one, I've got a gunship to escort it in, thinking maybe scouts or Sternguard for the 6 man squad,

I field a Ultra Marine Army, built from a battle box, and both Black Reach and Dark Vengance, as the back bone of my force just trying to fill the many blanks.

Any suggestions on the Speeder Loadout or anything else I really need to look at.

Thanks

Are you still talking about the storm? It only carries scouts, and doesn't carry that many models. As for loadouts for the storm... either the HB or HF are free options, and I hesitate to spend more money on such a flimsy vehicle.

In terms of tactics, you should be using them for "shenanigans" with your scouts.

They can be very good for late game clear and capture of objectives (HF+Blinding Blast) with your scouts charging and finishing off whatever held the objective. In this case you DS or outflank them as late as possible (hopefully turn 4), use terrain to hide near the objective through turn 4, and then swoop in turn 5 to take the objective. At the very least you should have a decent chance to pull the unit off the objective.

If you have a highly aggressive army that is in the opponent's face anyways you can help to support it somewhat with the storms by blinding some of the return fire. Be forewarned though that Tau suits don't care and will murderize you for it.

Can you move a full 12" and disembark from a Storm, or is it restricted to 6" like other transports?

6" is the most for embark or disembark.
It's a pain, as the model is around that size anyway, and jumping out of terrain won't get you that close.
But, being open-topped, you can dive off the front, and don't have to exit via the 'doors'.
You can't assault on the turn if comes in (IIRC), but you can:
Move 6", disembark 6" from the front, fire the launcher and guns, and assault the usual distance.
Hopefully, you'll blind them, take out a few models with the LSS's gun, and a few more with assault weapons. If you take shotguns, you might even wipe out the enemy without assaulting at all (yeah, right )
