Little local tourney at 2000 points coming up next month so have been putting together a list. I don't want to take my DEldar that I usually take competetively, as I don't think that will be fun for others so am building a Marine force. I've had to add a few bits from elsewhere to hit 2000, as I've only just started this force.
I have the option of Eldar Allies instead of Dark Angels. Also plenty more Henchmen squads, Rhinos and Chimeras.
HQ
Kossaro Kahn w/ Moondrakken
Librarian, Bike, ML2, Force Maul
Dark Angels Librarian, ML 2, Powerfield, Storm Bolter, force Stave
Inquisitor Coteaz
Ordo Xenos Inquisitor w/ Power Armour, 3 Servo Skulls and Psychic communion
Troops
3 space Marine Bikers, 2 Plasma Guns, Attack Bike w/ Multi Melta, Sergeant
3 space Marine Bikers, 2 Plasma Guns, Attack Bike w/ Multi Melta, Sergeant
7 Space Marine Bikers, 2 Flamers, Attack Bike w/ Multi Melta, Sergeant w/ Combi Melta
3 Inquistorial Acolytes (Technically Scoring Elites, but meh)
4 Dark Angel Scouts w/ Sniper Rifles, Sergeant w/ Sniper Rifle
Fast Attack
Stormtalon, Skyhammers
Stormtalon, Skyhammers
2 Land Speeder Typhoons
Heavy Support
Stalker
Stalker
Stormraven 2/ Hurricane Bolters
Strategy
Henchmen, Dark Angels Librarian and Inquisitors deploy as a single squad, with the librarian projecting the 4++ onto the Stalkers and Speeders. Scouts set up nearby, in cover.
The flamer bikes combat squad forming a unit of 5 bikes including 2 Flamers with the Librarian and a unit of 2 bikes, the sergeant and the attack bike with Kahn. These outflank.
The plasma squad bikers outflank with Stormtalons as escorts.
The Stormraven comes on form standard reserves.
Coteaz and the DA Libby roll on Divination to try to get Scryers Gaze for strong control of reserves. Drop other powers for Prescience to be used on the Speeders and either a Stalker or the scouts as appropriate.
White Scars Librarian rolls on Biomancy and/or Telepathy, looking for Iron Arm/Endurance/Warp Speed/Enfeeble and likely taking Shriek if rolling telepathy.

i think you stunned everybody by saying you don't want to take your DEldar because they are too competitive so you decided to build a Khan list out of one of the most updated codices to be released.... ummmmm che? Automatically Appended Next Post: and you are allying in Inquisitors as well as the most cost effective generic librarians available... this is what is broken about 40K. i don't support it.

People I'm playing against aren't rubbish! They expect competitive lists, they just can't take my DEldar list. The list I've put up here is entirely meant to be a tourney list not a fluff list at all. Its just a book I'm unfamiliar with, so not as good at playing.
Also my DE will munch this list, heck I can even beat it with my Nids.
I just tried to make a competitive imperial list and that above is my best effort.

Hey man, nothing against you. The current edition encourages this type of list building. i personally feel it is really bad for the hobby and I *only* play to win. But as I said, this is what is wrong with 40K and i do not support it.
By all means, good luck to you.

That's a shame I really enjoy it. Both playing with and against.
I had a really fun game last tournament that came right to the wire, my opponent brought Inquistion allied to Guard, with a Shadowsword, 3 Vendettas a Leman Russ and a couple of Chimeras, Coteaz and generic infantry (didn't care whether they were Acolytes or Guardsmen so can't say for sure which where which).
End of turn 5 I was winning, 10-7 with my DEldar, unfortunately game carried on and I ended up losing 11-7. Was great fun though and I could have won (even with the game carrying on) if I'd played better. Some poor target priority on my part contributed to my loss for the most part.
What is it you don't like about it? (Genuinely curious and would like to talk about this if I can't get critique of the list)

I am an old school purist and the topic has been talked to death all over the internet. I feel that GW does a poor job at balancing and therefore the ability to combine multiple rule sets creates an environment where finding the most broken combo is the only goal; and in turn the only way to play in a competitive environment. This problem has and always will exist but is exasperated with the current state of things. We wargamers used to only worry about a codex being OP. There were bandwagon jumpers for sure but it was a minority of players and easily manageable. It was manageable primarily because every codex came with a weakness that could be exploited. The most recent winner of the LVO ran a massive seer council deathstar supported by wave serpent spam. What made the deathstar that much more potent was the allied DEldar Character that enabled re-rolling 2++ saves. Now the list was strong enough as is without the ally and probably would have won anyway. But there is no question that the combination allowed by 6th Edition's silly approach to list building put the cheese factor over the top. Flame me if you like but if there is any semblance of balance to be restored to the game, GW has to unburden itself with allies, data slates et al. and focus on the basics -- balancing codices.

I've no interest in flaming you at all. I've found that, whilst more broken combos are around than in 5th, the game has had more vitality and variation since 6th dropped. Whilst before if you had a weak codex you either had to resign yourself to losing or jump ship, that's not the case any more.
GW do do a poor job balancing things, the allies rules seem to have made things, if not more balanced, at least more varied. Which, if they aren't going to balance things (and they aren't) is far better in my opinion.
I've played against a seer council w/ shadowfield a couple of tournaments ago and found it an interesting game. It was about outmanoeuvring the star whilst cutting up the rest of the list, until I was forced to engage the thing then drowning it in Gaunts. Was a close game which I won with a little positioning (with nids, old codex).
Maybe the tournament scene is different in the UK. In the last year the tournaments I've been to that I remember the winning armies of have been Demons, Taudar, Nids (mine), Pure Tau and Chaos Marines with.... something. More varied than the end of 5th which was Grey Knights, Grey Knights, Crons, Grey Knights, Crons.
I like not knowing exactly what I'll be facing and a larger number of competitive lists produce that situation. I'd prefer it if everything was balanced as well, but if I have to choose between unbalanced single dex and this, I choose this.
I see where you are coming from now though. Makes sense.

Hey man don't know if you have been to your event yet I just won the first Escalation event in my area with my White Scars (I didn't have a lord of war) and have had always placed in the top 25% with my scars (even with the 5th ed dex)
first if ur goin to combat squad the flamer squad you need 8 bikes n an attack bike, also attack bikes count as two models only for the purpose of combat squadding so ur little squads will need an extra bike.
id go commnd squad with 4 gravs n apoth
2x 6 man bike squads with combi-grav n 2 gravs
2x 6 man squads with melta n AB multimelta
I think ud be betta off droppin the xeno inquiz, the little henceman and all the angels, lose the speeds n stalkers aswell.
And think about wolfs, rune priest on bike with chooser of the slain, jaws and wat eva else (I like living lightning), a decents squad of grey hunters for coteaz if you want and a defense line to scout up to if you have the points go 2 wolf priest.
you drop nids easy as, tear apart tau and as youll find elder even crumble under ur speed n fire power.
But hey ur list just though id give ya some ideas (we do non-comp events in my part of Australia)

Thanks Outcast. I'll consider it .
My bikes are all legal BTW. 3 bikers, Attack Bike, Sergeant is 5. My flamers are a full squad, can't add any more.
