Our events team is pushing for a building or painting competition every month this year, and we'd like to get more people involved. I'll try to remember to post here on DAKKADAKKA each time a new competition starts.

For this month it's Objective Markers. The rules and discussion forum is here: http://www.ageofstrife.com/competitions/objective-markers-competition-t7218.html. The rules are pretty simple, but feel free to ask on our site if you're not sure what is and isn't suitable.

For most of the competitions there are no prizes, but you will have bragging rights to having won and your name will be on our medals page. I know it's not much, but the competitions are for fun and to motivate people to keep the hobby going. A list of what we have planned for 2014 is available here: http://www.ageofstrife.com/competitions/contest-line-up-2014-t7127.html.

We may look at getting prizes arranged later in the year, possibly for entrants who have won multiple competitions, looking at giving out some Forge World and GW limited edition models.

If you're interested, take a look and join us on Age of Strife.

Is there a required game to do these for?

i know a few of those entries are scattered a bit, but does it need to be 40k?

Nothing specific.

Can be an objective marker for any game system. I'm doing a pair for Flames of War.

The ultimate objective (no pun intended) is just to get us all to do something up for our games!

We so far have markers being made for FoW, 40K, Judge Dredd, and I think someone is planning on doing something for DropZone.
