Is is me or are these notoriously bad?
I and a friend bought the 2Player starterset for Hordes... and oh boy.

I had quite a few missing parts and wrong parts.
One set of legs of the Circle Skinflayers didn't allign with it's body at all. Had one head that didn't fit into the neck socket no matter what, one weapon that didn't fit with any of the torsos and some missing bracers.

On top of that I heard from other people that they had similar problems. Is something wrong with their quality control? Well at least with their plastic range.
Such a terror to fix it with cutting and greenstuff.

It's not like I hate them. I just think they could do a better job then what they do now.

They are not great. Especially the battle boxes. The newer unit kits are getting better.

There was a thread on the PP boards about it (well a few) and the PP folks jumped on to let everyone know that they are working on it.

Something like that takes time to turn around. If you have a piece that isnt up to snuff, get to the replacement parts portal and they will send out a new (hopefully better) one.

I have overall good results with their plastics. The only box that I had issues with where the new stormguard but that was mainly bent halberds that I had to fix using the hot/cold method. Most of the other stuff I have got went together rather easily, the new stormblades I got I put together in less than an hour.

Also if you got a mispack I would also suggest sending a report through their PP website. I have gotten a few mispacks with some of the metal unit boxes and they where very good about sending what I needed.

You are not alone in this OP. Although I will go on the record to say that a good amount of the Multi-part plastic Warjack kits I like (probably because I like the choice you can choose once you can magnetize the parts and that) and they are getting better slowly (hell, I like the look of the new Plastic Temple Flameguard, and I am tempted to get it even if I have the metal unit)!

Although I still hear off things about CoC Battlebox, and I can attest to the Battlebox with Darefsky with the Skorne one (especially the Cyclops Savage arms and flags to a point)....

Man, I hate their plastics. I realized some time ago that my WM/H purchases stopped around the time they switched to that terrible plastic. It's not like I'll rail against them for using a crappy material, but it's just not worth the effort and money for a sub-par model. It drove me to Malifaux and back to GW, since those companies use good plastic.

I haven't had any miscasts, but I've had numerous missing or wrong pieces in the boxes. It's quite annoying paying their very steep prices and then finding your kit doesn't even have the right pieces in it.

However, their mispack service has always sorted me out with minimal fuss, other than the one time I got the wrong axes in the Ravager plastic kit and they sent me another wrong axe.

Unless the issue lies in the actual machines they are using to form the plastic, then they should be able to fix the problem right away. The issue is that they probably have a huge surplus of kits already made both at the manufacturer and at the retailers and they arent about to just throw away hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is likely that we will see the quality get progressively better as stores sell the older kits and start getting restocked with newer ones.

That being said, I have the plastic khador box with Sorscha, Jugg, destroyer, and they all fit together perfectly. I mean, the tolerance on the leg-to-abdomen joint is so close that I probably do not even need to glue it, and the grooves in the shoulder joints were perfect before I drilled them out to magnetize the kits.

I've found that I often have missing or the wrong parts. So if something "fits poorly" you might have the wrong piece even if it looks like it should fit.

I know a lot of people complained about mold lines. And I have gotten some that are bad. But the newer kits seem to be better.

I just got the plastic bane thralls and the set I got is really tight. Minimal cleaning. So far it seems to fit together well. Only negative is I was one shoulderpad short. But I got a new one in less than a week. And I *may* have dropped it and lost it myself since I opened up the plastic bags and everything before I got home. Silly, but I was excited to check them out.

I've had experience with a lot of PP minis, both the old metal versions and the new plastic versions. I personally prefer the metals, the plastic doesn't seem as good quality as many other miniature lines, and the quality control is awful. Mould lines also seem to be placed in strange areas, ie. running over the miniatures face etc.

I do have a lot of time for PP because their customer service and communication with their consumers is incredible, and they seem to still be ironing out the kinks in the whole metal to plastic changeover. I will also say that the battlebox sets seem to be of noticeably worse quality than plastic unit kits, which seem fine apart from mould line placement.

Yeah, PP stated they were looking into alternatives at the ground level, but that change is unfortunately going to be slow due to the volume of work/production/cost.

Newer boxes (other than the CoC starter) have been much better IMO.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

I had a really really bad one then. The circle part of the starter box was godawefull. But the Everblight one was rather good except for bent spears.

The Circle part was so bad. Only the Feral Warpwolf was a good fit. Thank the modeling gods I was able to mend them with scraping, greenstuff and some converting.

I guess I'll go metal for now. I hope the lfgs were we got the box has most troops in metal.

The quality of the plastic troops I have bought is not great but their customer service is very good. Twice I have had missing or broken parts and both times I got a quick replacement.

I have to agree with the Circle portion of battle box being pretty bad.

Skinwalkers were pretty horrible, almost all required hot water to be positioned and even after that there were large gaps that needed to be filled.

Arguses had the obvious gap in the neck as the head wouldn't fit properly (even after shaving the connecter down in size).

Kaya had some nasty mold lines, but nothing I haven't seen before in other models.

Warpwolf was ok, no major issues there.

On other hand, metal Shifting Stones and Stonekeeper I bought at same time had practically no mold lines whatsover.

It seems I am a lucky git! I bought the 2players Starterbox for Warma yesterday and assembled the Protec stuff in 2hours. Cleaning the plastic/moldlines wasn´t so much of a pleisure but I am used to GW "finecast" and the old GW and PP metal models so it was ok.

Most of their older plastic kits are pretty awesome. It's typically just that newer kits seem to have a bit of a teething period before the kinks get worked out, in my experience.

I hate the plastics for the most part. They're all flashy and don't hold their shape right. I've given up on heating/reshaping my Warpwolf's sword for the nth time. He is now armed with a mighty question mark on a regular basis. They've also got all these soft edges which don't really hold up to the the quite nice designs and are just weird to paint.

I look for the Metals whenever I can. I give PP high marks in almost every category, but the quality of their plastics is one area where they get a big fat F--.

Sounds like I got lucky. Bought the 2player hordes box at Christmas - only mini defect was a warped base. The binding did give out almost immediately on my pocket rulebook, however. I contacted their mispack dept and they got it all sorted quickly.
