Hey everyone, hoping the new year is treating you all well?

here is what my hobby area looked like this morning; (the before)

For a while now the mess is getting in the way of me actually doing some work! theres just too much clutter, and I had to dig through things in small spaces to find what I needed.
So I removed everything! the desk included.
Out in the shed I found a length of kitchen worktop that was big enough for my needs, then I went to my local diy/building supplies store (it was a 'Wickes') and purchased two freestanding half width kitchen cabinets, and a few lengths of cheap white furniture board stuff, few fixtures and bits n bobs to go with it all.

A few hours later I had this;

nice new desk! yay! The shelf underneath is made from one of the cupboard doors that I wont be needing.

improved shelf storage

all in place

and finally with a bit of the hobby junk thrown back in ; big sort out required! But I think Its a massive improvement over the piles of stuff I've now got lots of places to put that stuff as it goes back in.

I need to pop back to the store to grab one more length of the board in order to build a hutch for the top of the desk, and also plan to improvise a paint rack using some plastic edge covers I grabbed in the store the first time.

I do have purple marines
Frankly well done for noticing it from that shot hehehe.

Theyre Dark Angels; I call them 'The Order'

Purple in place of Green,
Yellow in place of red
Ravenwing have black bikes/speeders with purple pilots/riders.
Deathwing have bone white armour with purple details.

All gun cases are yellow.

Jowsy! Those are very well done. The rustic black in the resesses, senith highlight on the backpacks and edge highlight. Very good! Also a nice colour contrast with the yellow and purple and you use the bone coloured robes as a neutal colour.

The first army (after I started up again) that I made where space wolves. But I hated the colour scheme so I made mine purple / orange. I never finished so many of the unfortunetly as I kept playing dark eldars and tyranids more. (My need to be creative is much higher then my loyalaty to the fantasy.)

They have a nice jimmy hendrix like colour to them.

Do you have any transports besides the drop pod? I always found that part hard to paint with the orange.

Just a half painted predator (which could be swapped to a rhino easily as its magnetised).

And a yet to be built Landraider Crusader, but thats Belials ride and will be bone white.

Lots of bikers to get built too lol just not enough time to do it.
A big barrier was the massive mess it all had become around the desk. Hence the overhauling. Hopefully itle work and I can get some of these figures finished

I have found a good rule for myself when painting is to not have to many projects on the desk at the same time. It is a rule I very rarlely manadge to stick to. :-(

Theres also the bunch of shelves to the left of the desk leaning against the wall that need to go up around the room

The plan for now is to get as much of my tools and supplies off the desk and up onto hose shelves above as I can, construct a paint rack and a hutch, and use the lower shelf for the model queue, the hutch for the tools Im using right now (and my beverage ) and then I get the whole desk area to spread out whatever Im working on and get it done.
