I've never played with one. But I'm noticing that my jetbikes are tending to die way to early in the game, because they usually tend to come in on turn 2 or 3. So I'm planning on building a Jetbike autarch to help keep them in reserve longer. I'm curious on how to equip him though. Keep him barebones and cheap, or build him up and make him a workhorse.

Right now I'm in the cheap camp, because I trust on things like my Wave Serpents/Wraith Units/Reapers, etc to do the heavy lifting.

So what are some favorite builds, and how do you use them?

Well...what in your list is most likely to be in assault?...that's the unit he should be kitted for...or just run him as the solitaire

I was thinking of attaching him to a jetbike squad, just to tank and help their survivability. Maybe break him off to go after isolated targets of opportunity. I don't plan on using him as a workhorse, but I'm interested in how other folks use him because I do like to try different things out.

If his goal is simply to sit with the jetbike squad, you don't really need to add much. I think one of the cheap melee weapons would probably be the best option, or maybe the Laser Lance as he can only take it if on a bike and it's a pretty decent weapon depending on how you utilize the squads.

Also worth noting jetbikes gain relentless so if you want, you can take the Uldanorethi Sniper Rifle and move-snipe with him, or give him a Reaper Launcher for some nice boom on the go.

The Man'tarch is probably your best bet:

Autarch - 150pts.
w/ Eldar Jetbike, Banshee Mask, Laser Lance, Fusion Gun, Mantle of the Laughing God.

He's relatively cheap, very survivable and is an excellent bully/harassment unit.

This is perfect. Send him off in one direction and your army in another. The Autarch is a perfect harassment/distraction unit. If your opponent doesn't deal with him, then the Autarch picks off units/special characters. If your opponent peals off part of his army to deal with the Autarch then the rest of your army is at an advantage with the now smaller number of units in front of it.

Enjoy!

Personally I'd give him a reaper launcher on a jetbike...he'll fit in with your reapers and bikes and give them all more combat potential...I recommend the scorpion chain sword and not a power sword as well.

I personally run an autarch with; Jet bike, banshe mask, scorpion sword, fusion gun, mantle, and shard for about 180*, he mainly is their to scare challangers, ride around allowing my reserves to come in when i want, and not give away warlord slaying easily.

Though i wish he would get a fix in a bieltan supplement. (+/- 1 for both yours/opp reserves.) Taking/buying aspect path, gaining access to gear, allowing 2 mandate troops.(-2 on dire avengers for those slots each.)

The OP is not looking to spend points or make the autarky a workhorse...

since your not going into melee, just mantle, bike, and a ranged weapon or melta gun.

Actually, the OP leaves the workhorse option open.

Gone-to-ground in the craters of Coventry

Jetbike, Scorpion sword, DA catapult, add a mask as required.
It's cheap, is better range than a basic jetbike, and lets him at-least try in combat.
Stick him in a GJB squad, or when charging with a cc squad of some sort.

DA Catapult? I don't know that it's worth buying when bikes come with a built in tl catapult.

Screaming Shining Spear

My loudout is: Eldar jetbike, Banshees Mask, Fusion Gun, Scorpion's Chainsword replaced by Shard of Anaris. It's 143 points and goes into my squad of 8 Shining Spears to make them Fearless.

This build can also work in a WRJ squad or Hellions/BeastStar if you're running DE allies.

What I do for spears: 4 Spears with Star Lance Monster Hunter Exarch + Bike Spear Seer...Rerolling your shooting and assault with Spears is tremendous! My small squad usually wipes most anything it charges.

Screaming Shining Spear

I use a sort of a Shining Spear deathstar with an Autarch inside for Fearless and extra attacks, while the Farseer is somewhere around throwing buffs. Usually my Spears get Prescience. What's crucial is that I have a WK usually somewhere nearby and the synergy between the two is amazing. Necron Wraiths are afraid of that. And they eat anything MC for breakfast. I once killed a Riptide just from shooting 20 TL Rending Monster-Hunter shots into him. That is a fluke, but it's not as unlikely as it sounds.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh and that combo is 380 points. So definitely not breaking the bank, unlike the Seer Council for instance.

You're doing it right, so many people forget the catapults have Monster Hunter too...

Executing Exarch

The Twilight Zone

If you want the laughing/bike squad option, lots of good advice from Araenion and Iranna above. If your just looking for a reserve manipulater, then a cheap foot autarch may be the way to go. Contrary to the biketaurch/laughingtaurch, you don't have much utility besides the reserve rolls, but at far less cost. If you really just need the reserve manipulation, naked is an option, but there are a few key toys that will make the best use of your bargian build.

A stock autarch+melta gun makes a decent addition to any squad in a serpent, adding some pinch AT and a decent statline. If you can afford, a scorpion chainsword is a steal for the strength boost and +1 strength. A banshee mask is another bargain item for the cost, great for a "just in case(Banshee mask is good on any autarch build)
