Subject: 1500pt Tournament, Wraith-Heavy Eldar Army

Hello, Dakkadakka! A FLGS I recently discovered in my area is just getting into the Warhammer 40k business and to help kick things off it's having a 1500pt Tournament (BRB Fortifications+Codex units only; missions will be Crusade, Big Guns, and Scouring only) on the 22nd. I decided that I'll be taking my new Eldar army to it and was hoping I could get some list feedback. Unfortunately, my Eldar collection is fairly light, with much of it being comprised of the units I got when I acquired a Ghost Warriors box set. I figure I'll make a list of my Eldar stuff, make a few speculative statements about what the meta might possibly look like, and then post my current list. What I have to work with is as follows:
1 Spiritseer
10 Wraithguard w/ Wraithcannons
5 Wraithguard w/ D-Scythes
5 Dire Avengers
10 Guardians (with an unbuilt weapon platform)
6 Howling Banshees
3 Wave Serpents w/ TL Scatter Lasers and Shuriken Cannon
2 Wraithlords w/ 2 Bright Lances
1 Wraithknight w/ Suncannon and interchangeable shoulder-mounted weapons (typically ran with a single Scatter Laser)
1 War Walker (weapons interchangeable)
Other than that I've got a new-model budget of $50-$60 USD to potentially buy models to make the list better. I would rather not have anyone recommend a non-Spiritseer HQ as it would have to be special-ordered (HQs are out of stock) and I'd rather not risk them not arriving in time to paint up and bring to the tourney.
I really don't know who is going to be at the tourney nor what armies they'll bring. At the other FLGS the usual sights are 3 CSM players, and other MEQ players (I regularly see a few C:SM armies, a BA army, and a GK land raider army), a couple Ork hordes, a Sisters player, a chaos undivided Daemon player, a Dark Eldar player, and an IG foot horde player. For the most part even the tournies there seem to be filled with very casual list (in one tourney back in 5th my DE got matched up with a guy running 20 man blobs of CSM and Beserkers...I felt really, really bad for him by the end of that one...).
Now, on to the list:
HQ (70pts total)
-Spiritseer w/ Pistol/Staff (70pts)
Troops (965pts Total)
-5 Wraithguard w/ D-Scythes (210pts)
+ Wave Serpent w/ TL Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, and Holofields (145pts)
-5 Wraithguard w/ Wraithcannons (160pts)
+Wave Serpent w/ TL Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, and Holofields (145pts)
-5 Wraithguard w/ Wraithcannons (160pts)
+Wave Serpent w/ TL Scatter Laser, Shurkien Cannon, and Holofields (145pts)
Heavy Support (465pts)
-Wraithknight w/ Suncannon, Scatter Laser (300pts)
-Wraithlord w/ 2 Bright Lances, Ghostglaive (165pts)
Total Points: 1500
So...thoughts on the list? Anything that's -critical- to swap out? Remember, I only have the collection I posted and some $50-$60 worth of purchases to draw units from!
You have my thanks, Dakka.

If you weren't model constrained, I would recommend the following changes;
1) Drop the Shuriken Cannons on the Wave Serpents as well as the Suncannon and Scattershield on the Wraithknight, swapping it to the standard load-out.
2) Exchange the Wraithlord for a second Wraithknight with stock heavy wraith cannons.
3) Spend the left-over 15 points on whatever you like.
This would make your list so much scarier, but it seems like it won't be possible with your current models. As it is, I like the list and think it is probably the strongest you can do with what you have.

^ this. You have come up with pretty much as solid a list as you could with what you had.
I would like to find the points to get vectored engines on the D-Scythe Serpent it makes a big difference to their threat range. My advice is get the Iyanden Supplement if it is allowed you get much better Warlord traits and voice of twilight really helps those D-Scythes. It would also mean you could make that Wraithknight your Warlord.

With what you have, that is a solid list. I also suggest the iyanden supplement. Voice of twilight is an amazing primaris power for the spiritseer, particularly with the scytheguard. Make the knight your warlord, and between the boss warlord traits, a 5++, T8 and 6 wounds you will be hard pressed to give up a victory point from your warlord dying.
If your up against a bunch of casual lists, you should have no problem in the tournament.

he only has one wraithknight... read his post.
My advise would be to drop wraithlord, buy a war walker (only 30$) and then run a squad of 2 war walkers. Puts out double the fire power, faster, and cheaper.

He could buy two War Walkers with the money he has. Run them with Scatterlaser/Starcannon combo due to the lack of Guide.
1500 Iyanden supplement:
HQ:
Spiritseer: Spirit Stone of An'athlan - 85
Troops:
-5 Wraithguard: D-Scythes - 210
+ Wave Serpent: Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Holofields - 145
-5 Wraithguard: Wraithcannons - 160
+ Wave Serpent: Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Holofields - 145
-5 Wraithguard: Wraithcannons - 160
+ Wave Serpent: Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon, Holofields - 145
Heavy Support:
Wraithknight: 2 Heavy Wraithcannons - 240
3 War Walkers: 3 Scatterlasers/3 Starcannons - 210
Total: Exactly 1500 points
If you decide to go with that, just be careful with your War Walkers if you haven't fielded them before, as they are incredibly squishy when out in the open.
And that's a good investment in general, a lot of lists can use War Walkers to good effect, they're quite amazing once you get the hang of them. But make sure not to glue the weapons on, or magnetize them, so you can set them up according to your list.

War Walkers are ace but I think they don't have a place in this list. They would be his only soft target. Literally the only thing S4 could hurt and the only thing that would represent value from S5 firepower. The Wraithlord whilst slow and with less firepower represents a more combined showing.

@flingitnow
Your right about the walkers, but the fact they can outlflank could out weigh the possible damage from S4 weapons?
Also as a wraith fan I would chose a WL over walkers for fluff reasons.

Well and most s4 weaponary has only a 24 inch range, and tau fire warriors have a 30 inch range, both outranged by the warwalkers 36 inch ranged scatter laser or bright lance (which is what i would run them with), and with battle focus it shoudnt be to hard to kite them

I think with what the OP has, it is the best list they can put out.

Thanks for the replies, all!
So War Walkers and the Iyanden supplement popped up quite a bit in the responses. Unfortunately I can't get both at the moment.
So, Dakkadakka, what would be better: 2 War Walkers (to add to the one I already have for 3) or the Iyanden supplement?

War Walkers, definitely. Iyanden supplement has extra two pages of rules. If you know anyone that has it, you can just write down the Warlord traits and those few extra stuff and that's it. Buying a whole supplement just for two pages of rules isn't worth it, not even if you wipe your ass with dollar bills. Actually, I can agree with this. A second Wraithknight would be by far the best addition, but if that's out of your reach, then a WL isn't bad. It's just slow and will anchor your list down a bit. You'll need to know exactly where you want him in any particular game, cos if you put him on one side of the board, he won't be going to the other side any time soon.

 sometimes i wonder about myself.....
At OP. war walkers. Dont buy the Iyanden supplement. i havnt. yet i use it nearly every game. If your flgs has a copy without the shrink wrap (mine does) memorize it. It took me 10 minutes to memorize what im going to use. piece of cake.
