Hey Guys,

What's you opinion of the Typhon model? I want to add Typhus to my current growing chaos faction, but I am iffy about the GW Typhus model, I'd need to convert it a bit to feel comfortable with him. But that aside do you think the FW Calas Typhon model would be a good representation of him for a modern 40k chaos army?

The Typhon model is awesome and would fit in a normal CSM list just fine. Gameplay wise both are on 40mm bases so no base conversion necessary. Besides they are the same person fluff wise.

I don't think it would work. Typhon is very chaotic in his appearance for a "loyalist" marine, but he's simply not the same as his blessed future self where his armour is physically stuck to his skin and his enourmous bloated belly filled with the goodness of nurgle.

It would need a serious amount of conversion

Anyway with all the chaos rumours I bet there will be a new chaos one soon enough

I would be cool with it. I personally use the awesome FW Huron model instead of the craptastic GW Huron.

I'd have more issue with this than with someone using Pre-Heresy Typhus as 40k Typhus. Reason being the FW Huron model is in Terminator armor and is therefore supplied on a 40mm base, while the GW one is power armor and is therefore on a 25mm base. That does have an impact on gameplay, after all, even if minor.

Which isn't to say I'd care for friendly games, because if you want to say your Lufgt Huron model is Abaddon, I'd be like "okay!" as long as your army list represented the right points. I tend to not really care what people want to say their stuff is in friendly games, because to me a "friendly game" is one we sit down and discuss the list the week before we even bring our armies, and we try to come up with fluff why we're fighting and all that stuff. Makes it a lot more fun, and a lot less frustrating to lose. It also eliminates cheese because if a guy says "Man I really, really just don't even want to fight against 3 riptides, could you maybe just bring one?" people are more likely to do that.

REGARDLESS AND NOW ON TOPIC
I'd honestly prefer you run the Calas Typhon model as Typhus, because it's masterfully sculted and looks incredible while the Typhus model is a sculpt from literally 20 years ago and is just kind of bad.

I feel like that would be a perfect substitute for typhus. With how old the sculpt is I would probably go the same way.

I used Calas Typhon for my IW Typhus and it turned out fantastic, so I say just go for it!
