I am currently wokring on putting together a tyrannic war veterans formation out of stuff in my bits bin (just need to buy some legs, maybe a head) and I will be painting them up as deathwatch marines. I am of course working on a plastic deathwatch chaplain to lead them and this means I need to make a plastic crozius. From the bits I have I need to make the corzius in the chaplian's left hand. I have a bunch of weapons left over from the new ravenwing command box. I was thinking of snipping the head off a crag hammer and using that with some sort of winged skull on top. Now here is why I put this in YMDC. After looking at the hammer itself I think it might make a fine crozius as long as there are no other models with actual crag hammers in my force. I plan to run this formation with an inquisition army so no ravenwing.

If I where your opponent, would you have an issue with a unmodified crag hammer on a reasonable well converted chaplain counting as a crozius?

This more belongs in General rather than YMDC. As long as you only have the one in your list, no one should have a problem if your hammer counts-as a crozius.

Yes, it would be perfectly acceptable, although personally I feel that Crozius is an iconic part of a Chaplain, and it is a shame if it is omitted.

Many marine kits come with banner tops that make excellent an excellent Crozius:
