I picked them up a month ago after reading fluff and fell in love. My only problem is of course it's a new army for me and there for I'm not used to playing them yet.

I'm trying to run a canis wolf born list but need help any point value is fine. Any tips and how to play basic SW is great to.

I hate to hear you are running Canis. As always, this is a game and do what you want. I Just think he is the worst IC in the army :/

Look into your Rune Priests and Wolf Priests to give your infantry (some of the best in the game) special abilities and additional rules/equipment into each squad making them just a little more deadly.

The Codex powers we have are all pretty great, balance them out by what army you are facing, There are good shooting abilities (JOTWL for Nids, Tau and Crons) LL for squishier horde armies, Tempest Wrath for skimmers, flyers Deep strikers etc there is a ton of ability.

Sadly our Fast attack is not the best you gotta rely on the Thunder Wolves really, Im not a big fan of bikes or jump packs in the SW army with their lower shooting skills and low CC skills but with TW always rending is nice, and draws a lot of Aggro

I cannot Stress how great the Lone Wolf is. Cheap, Suicidal, angry and effective this is a foot slogger who makes up for it by drawing all of the aggro and then if he survives (and you wont cry if he dies) he can and will deal a ton of punishment to big nasties.

Grey Hunters and Long Fangs and Wolf Scouts are all solid shooting units, and good choices for dealing out a ton of damage at close and far away. Also using WGT and Logan grimnar/Arjac is a solid bet for good assault phases mixed with firing JOTWL and Foehammer at things you really wana see of the board.

Invest in Drop pods, they are a great way to get your guys where they need to be quick, and for not super expensive


My first one was a little rushed, I am at work and things decided to pick up while I wanted to type that. So 2nd round full of edits.

Your standard thing you need for se is 10xgh 2xmeltguns or plasma guns, a wolf standard and a drop pod (200pts). Or wolf guard with combies, or a unit with combies terminator armour power axes a power fist and a heavey flamer in a drop pod, (235points)

If your going to do a Canis wolfborn list then you just need 2 lots of fenrisian wolves to fill in the troops, then run thunderwolf cavalry, iron priest on thunderwolf with cyberwolves and maybe a few lords/battle leaders on thunderwolves.

It would be a difficult army to play with though

15 missiles is usually the base of any space wolf army. From there you build

Step 1. Take as many Long Fangs with missiles as you can.
Step 2. Take as many drop pods as you can.
Step 3. Take as many Grey Hunters as you can.
Step 4. Take as many meltaguns as you can.

Not in order of importance.

Circa 2010, yes, but this is 6E. Grey Hunters, however, have withstood the test of time. They are still a great troop choice.
