So i am looking at getting into legion of everblight i have the starter box for them but was wondering what is the most competitive list for legion is. Probably going to max out at 50 points.

I would like to get everything at one time and commissioned painted.

There is no end-all list for any army. Legion is certainly a strong army overall, but they have several playstyles and the warcasters all act fairly different from each other. Even incarnations of the same caster like pThagrosh/eThagrosh or pLylyth/eLylyth interact with their armies in different ways.

How familiar with the game are you? I can understand the desire to simply get a list and be done with it, but there is a good chance you may not like that particular selection of Legion, its play style, or even its models.

Legion is probably one of the strongest factions due to the fact that they ignore several rules (LOS, Frenzy, terrain etc etc.) But Warmahordes is a balanced game so you still need to be tactically adept in order to seize victory in the name of Everblight!

Legion pays for its advantages. It tends to be a glass cannon faction and low model count. If you are looking for solid lists to build and that are commonly seen, I'd look at eVayl's tier list, Saeryn and to a lesser extent eLylyth. Other casters I'd highly recommend would be pThagrosh, pVayl and Bethayne.

Others have answered but I want to point out something. Tournaments for Warmachine are not single list events. You take two lists (rarely three) and get to choose which of your lists can face the enemy. Therefore the better question is which two lists are the most competitive for Legion.

There's still no right answer, but at least you now know a little bit more.

The game of Warmahordes is very different when compared to other MWG's (COUGH COUGH 40K) in the way that cookie cutter lists don't really exist as much as one would think. Each unit really has its own niche. There are no "Better" units, because they all just fill different roles. You do tend to see more popular choices, but there isn't anything bad per say. When there is something "bad" its usually just because that guy dosent work well with whatever else you are bringing. This is not a hand-full of dice game, you have to think tactically and learn how your guy's synergy works. That is how you win games.

Then again thats just my opinion.

I am sorry a little back ground about me would be nice. I am huge into 40k and I am looking at expanding into warmachine hordes. Right now i can not compete in tournaments because i work almost every weekend but their is a large community in my area that enjoys going to tournaments and i like to practice with them. I have a cryx army currently and i feel very comfortable with them i was just looking at getting into the hordes side. What really sold me on the everblight was the fact that they are blind dragons like how can you beat that lore wise? I just really wanted to get everything at one time so that they will be painted to match i know i will have to switch units out from time to time to change with the meta of the game but from my research there are some staples in the list.
This is what i am currently looking at getting it is from the UK masters so it is not my own idea but i think i can get it to work for me.

The spawning vessel will pop out a lesser warbeast or two over the length of the game. As you have the battle box you have four shredders already but I would also buy a pack of harriers and stingers just so you have the option.

With that as a basis I would look towards pairing with Saeryn. Another high power caster that loves beasts. Include a scythean or two, possibly a raek and you'll have a decent two list pairing.

All of the others could use the vayl list as a basis but would need more changes or aren't considered as powerful.

Trouble with Saeryn and eVayl is, that Niether can deal with a lot of armor. The armor piercing angels are nice, but would require two or more to drop a single heavy. With that in mind, I'd look to pThagrosh or pVayl to shore up that weakness.

Also, swapping out one of the three angels for a Scythean can help round out the eVayl list. Its a very solid beater and she helps its accuracy with Icy Grip to help trigger Blood bath.

Also, hot swapping refuge on two angels is a trick you should become familiar with once you start playing her. (Turn 1 cast refuge on Angel 1. Turn two upkeep refuge for 1, activate angel 1 and refuge back, activate eVayl and cast refuge on Angel 2, activate Angel 2 repulse and refuge back.) This tactic can help clear zones, attack the enemy while staying 12" away from their lines or more. Its a lot of fun and very effective. Her feat is versatile and can be useful in assassination attempts along with many other applications, but think it through before declaring your actions (IE purify first before you cast upkeeps, do not upkeep the turn you feat unless its for refuge on the first angel, etc. )

Hope this helps and that you have a lot of fun. Welcome to the community!

NOTE: I'd recommend you check out the Museonminis.com website for articles and their forum. Its a great community and their podcast is very informative.
