Any opinions or advice on this list is welcome. I was just messing around in army builder and thought hey this would be a fun list for a tournament I was thinking about going to. I think it will be fairly competitive (while keeping costs low) If you see any weakness or anything please post! Thanks! ^^
Also please note I've never ever fielded IG and only ever played against them like twice. Basicly everyone here plays space marine. I use to play tau and just recently converted to SM myself.
SM:
HQ:
Librarian in Terminator Armor (Force Stave, Storm Shield, increased mastery level)
Elite:
Terminator Squad (10 men, powerfist/stormbolter, 1 cyclone missile launcher) (basically this squad and HQ teleport in and deal with whatever hammer unit)
Dreadnought x2 (power fist, plasma cannon)
Troops:
Tactical Squad x2 (Plasma gun, plasma cannon, rest bolters) (to hold and capture mid field points and to defend ig)
Heavy:
Thunderfire Cannon (for explosions and because i have one plus the techmarine can bolster defenses)
Inquisition (since no one expects the inquisition!)
HQ:
Corteaz (joins infantry platoon with company command squad uses I've been expecting you for people who deep strike near them)
IG:
HQ:
Company Command Squad (Basic squad +master of ordnance)
Troops:
Infantry Platoon (1 las cannon with platoon command squad, 2 Infantry Squads w/las cannons, 2x heavy weapons teams w/3 missle launchers)
Armoured sentinel squad (2 w/plasma cannon)
Fortifcation:
Aegis Defense Line w/ las cannon
Leaves me at 1995 points so 5 left to put a melta bomb on someone or something. I could switch to scout sentinels and lose the armor benefit. Really only taking them since I'll get them in the IG battleforce and didn't want to buy more and more heavy weapon squad boxes just yet and I wouldn't mind taking a second cyclone missile launcher on my terminator squad.
Basic idea though is set up IG in the back ground hopefully on a point. Put the wall around them and shoot shoot shoot everything till it dies then move on to the next target. Coteaz lets you shoot whoever deep strikes within 12 inches of him (out of phase shooting) then you still get overwatch if they charge. the dreads would also be back there if things get to dicey. Your tactical squads take up forward position and slow the forward onslaught. While the terminators are in the opponents backfield with support from whatever templates, missiles, etc.. from thunderfire and not otherwise occupied heavy weapons.
EDIT:
Any opinion on which chapter tactics to take?

The weaknesses that I can see is that there is not too much firepower to deal with flyers or heavy armour.
I'd also say for a 2000pt army it doesn't have a huge amount of....punch - nothing that an opponent would look at go 'hmm that's going to be tricky to deal with'.
Terminators might cause some trouble for the other player but once they are on the board they can be outmanoeuvred pretty easily.
I'd be tempted to get some drop pods in there - let your imperial guard cap objectives, get some tac squads and sternguard further up the field to cause some trouble from drop deployment.
Hope that helps, will add more if I think of anything.

I would almost consider throwing the lascannon on the platoon command squad on the CCS so that theres a lascannon at bs4 instead of 3.
Also you know how platoons work right? Only the infantry squads can blob up. Not the PCS or heavy weapon teams.
I would almost swap out some of those heavy weapon teams and get more infantry squads with heavy weapons.

Bah wasn't aware of that. I thought they all were either one squad or as many smaller squads as you wanted to break them up into. Blame skimming the codex. Hrm that does change a few things. Though 16 lasguns, 3 lascannons, 1 bolt pistol shot should still kill anything that deep strikes within 12 inches of that squad with rerolls and stuff from orders and coteaz psychic abilities. Though thinking about it I guess the coteaz trick is better with larger platoons. EDIT: 52 shots from this squad rerolling to hit isn't bad hrm.. 48 lasgun (first rank second rank), 3 lascannon, 1 bolt pistol, all twinlinked from coteaz.
Wonder if it's even worth taking IG as an ally really. i'd have to buy them all. I have a 12 man group of fire warriors left from when I sold off my tau. could just buy a couple broadsides and the riptide. get fireblade guy for hq and volley fire. Also got a couple rhino/razorbacks and a pread or two. got a third dread, more marines of course, and a 10 man assault squad. Anything else I'd have to buy but that's not a huge issue so long as its like under $500 just want something competitive and fun.
Also @turgon868 Yeah flyers might do some damage but I do have the aegis gun if it comes to it. But really I don't find flyers to be that much of an issue here in my local meta. But, if it did come up should be enough shots to statistically bring it down. Once I pop their tanks and transports (which should be easy with the amount of missiles, las, and plasma) I should have enough time to kill any flyers while their marines march across the board. Though honestly I see very few SM transport vehicles other than drop pod.(mind you I havent been up to the store to play in a few months now so maybe vehicles are making a come back)

Local meta is all space marine except one guy who has space marine and orks (he never plays the orks anymore sadly) and one guy who plays necrons. I was the only other non space marine player till recently. At the tournement there won't even be chaos much less demons. Only chaos player I know will be at a bolt action tournament. I get what your saying though like in the future. sure maybe but by then i'd have more units and more painted lol.
I dunno IG are cheaper and i think would be more effective in the long run with the tanks and all hydra, hell hounds, etc... but i miss my tau lol

Henchmen are even cheaper than guard and can put out more dakka point for point, especially as the ally.

What Chapter Tactic are you utilizing for your space marine detachment?

Probably either feel no pain one or reroll bolter shots. Think thats iron hands or imperial fist. Don't have the book in front of me though so don't quote me on that. But, I'm not set on those I'm open to suggestions.

IG are nice as an ally as a platoon kitted out with heavy weapons can just sit back and give some supporting fire while holding home field objectives. Throw in either russes or some artillery for support while the rest of your marines move up.

I'd have to drop something to add anything. Guess I could drop the terminators. I just know when I faced them as tau they were super annoying so I thought I'd field them lol.
