Does anyone think they will keep rules for giving carapace armor to troops (vet doctrine) in the next codex?

My friend is selling a beautiful carapace guard army and I want to know if people feel gw will keep rules that will allow me to do a carapace guard army.

I cannot imagine GW would drop the carapace armor option from IG vets, but until the codex is released you will be taking a chance with any IG purchases you make between now and then. That said, even if GW does not keep carapace armor in the codex you could still use the converted army! The IG range of models has a lot of different types of armor that all result in the crappy 5+ flak armor save IG are known for. So, a Catachan's abs stop rounds just as well as a Cadian's flak armor. If your guys are a little more heavily kitted out, well, that is just how your regiment rolls, right?

On moon miranda.

I'm sure they'll keep it, either that or make an option for Stormtroopers as troops. Given that it's been there for a decade or more and they have multiple models lines for it, it's hard to see it going completely bye-bye.

Now, whether it'll finally no longer be painfully overcosted or not is another question altogether.

That said, even if they don't keep it, IA12 has the DKoK Assault Brigade list which would allow you to still run a Carapace IG force.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Not really news or rumour so I've moved you over to 40K General.

As an answer my thoughts are, I'd be annoyed by the move but not surprised.
I suppose It depends on if GW are planning to replace the old Kaskrin figs with a plastic kit, if they aren't they may well remove the option in the same way they removed some Nid ones.

Worst case, you'd have beautiful models with counts-as flak armor.

They still also sell the Vostroyan kits, which are also technically Carapace infantry.

I wouldn't imagine the option going anywhere.

I agree with Ailaros, worst comes to worse you still have an awesome looking IG army.

Best case scenario carapace gets cheaper and you have more options for carapace armored troops

Plus, I mean, there isn't A way of modelling flak armor. I mean, if both of these models are armed in flak armor:

Then clearly you have a fair bit of wiggle room with regards to what models look like they're wearing carapace armor and which ones aren't.

The only thing that could even matter at all here is that if you have an army where some of your models are wearing flak armor, and some are wearing carapace, then the models wearing carapace armor should look like they have more armor. That's no big problem, though. Even if you used kasrkin models as your regular flak armor dudes, it's plenty possible to make one of their models look more heavily armored.

I just want to know how come IG wearing T-Shirts get just as good or better Saves than Tyranids which look like they have better armour.

I just pretend Humans are the only smart enough race to duck... and that explains the armour saves some models have.

My praetorians however dont duck... (its un chivalrious) so i have yet to come up with a way to justify their armour.

To be fair, when the Catachan's had their own book and their own specific Doctrines, they only had a 6+ save.
