One Canoptek Scarab in a Swarm
|
Hello everyone! I just got my Freikorps starter in at long last and am extremely happy with the game so far. I have only played a demo game, but I bought the M2E rules handbook, so I get the basic rules of the game.
One of the questions I have is, is Von Schill a master or not? It lists in the rulebook that henchmen can lead crews of up to 25 soul stones, and on Von Schill's card, it says he is a henchman. But because he is an Outcast, does that make him equivalent to a master within the Outcasts faction? One other thing, there were a few rule on the cards that had no definition, and were not mentioned in the rules handbook. Where can I find the definitions for these rules. The rules I did not know were Scout, Hunter, furious casting, the Brutal trigger, flurry and slow to die. Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for your responses!

From the sounds of it, you have the old stat cards for your models. Those cards (with the photo of the model on the front usually) are for the old edition of Malifaux.
The new one - referred to as M2E, uses a smaller card, and has all the abilities explained on it (you will find however, that models have lost some abilities from the cards you currently have) In the new edition, Von Schill is now a master.
If you buy the Outcast Arsenal deck, you should receive all the new cards for the Freikrops that have been released so far. The Strongarm suit, Librarian, and trapper will have their new stat cards released soon (10th Feb) for downloading.

Thank you. I had known the stat cards were old, but I had not realized that the cards could be better explained on the new ones. I will try to pick up the arsenal deck and read the new cards.

All of the old Henchmen have been upgraded to Masters (they used to be kind of like the current Henchmen, without the maximum game size, with some option restrictions, and with far fewer of them).
All of the cards for his currently released models are in the core book (currently just him, the basic guys, and the flamethrower, plus hannah and his totem which haven't come out yet)... not sure if you mean you have the big one or just the little travel-sized one. The other old models (the librarian and the sniper) are in wave 2: the beta just closed for those, they're behind schedule so wyrd is putting out official (free) PDF downloads in the next week or two as a stop-gap until the second decks go to print.
The new cards are way simpler and have almost entirely done away with the universal rules you need to check the book for. The obvious way to tell them apart is the old ones are double-wide and folded while the new ones are regular-sized cards.
