Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

Hi all
I need some help in making an army
I don't have any figures of necrons yet
but this is what I'm thinking of
Necron Lord / res orb/ war scythe - 130 pts
Necron warriors x10 -130 pts
Immortals x5 -85 pts
Cantopek wraiths x3 - 105 pts
Cantopek spyder - 50 pts
Total - 500pts
What do you think and where do you see weak points of this set.
thx of any advice

Have you looked through any of the Necron codex tactica articles online?
If not, I highly suggest you do so before buying anything.
I don't want to go into exactly everything that's wrong with this list, as that would take a long time.
The most basic pieces of advice I can give you to start off with would be to consider these two questions: 1) what do you want your army to be able to do? (type of play style, unit cohesion), and 2) what is the best way to do so? (point cost effectiveness)

For a 500 point list, its not bad, i'd drop the spider since you have no scarabs, and add more immortals. That, or divide the warriors into two squads of 8, drop the immortals and the spider, and get an annihilation barge if you can.

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum. |

Look up some of the various Tactica out there, then decide what you want to do. Really do your homework on the Immortals, deciding to take Gauss or Tesla will go a long way in letting us know what you want to do, and what advice we can give.
As for your list, the Tomb Spyder is the only 'meh' thing in there. You don't have any Scarabs, and you're not giving it a Crystal. Not that you need it on 500 pts. It's a good Cheap MC, but you have a Lord with a Scythe. Not that you need it on 500 pts. The Warriors with the Orb are a solid choice for 500 pts, you'll either beef up this unit as you get more stuff, or give them an Ark.
Since you haven't purchased anything yet, I'd recommend just picking up the Battleforce. Get the Anni Barge/CCB kit anyways. You'll probably be getting one anyways, and you get the plastic Lord to use instead of the Failcast ones.

It's no bad, but I'd go for something like this:
Overlord
Warscythe
10 Warriors
5 Immortals
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge or 6 Canoptek Scarabs
Comes up to 495 points I think

3x scarabs comes with warriors box but you are right i need to have cantopek scrab unit on tabel- my bad (wrong translation in codex) Immortals tesla would be nice vs infantry at 24-12 but if I want to use wraiths to hold oponent CC units in combat with them immortals would go in this army with gauss blasters so meaby drop cantopek spyder and put 3x scrab unit that would suport wraiths. but is it worth the points? Dunno if it will work out. the idea of anni barge would be nice. If i decide to keep enemy at distance (would be best for necrons) it would look like this Necron Lord / res orb/ war scythe - 130 pts Necron warriors x15 -195 pts Immortals with tesla x5 -85 pts annihilation barge with tesla canon - 90 pts

That 2nd list is much better.
If you're worried about assault then you could just drop the Spyder on your original list, take a Sempiternal Weave, and a 4th Wraith.
On your remade list, you could run the 6 Scarabs until you get the Anni Barge, or switch it out.
Either way, that Overlord, the 10-15 Warriors and Immortals is a solid way to start any Necron Army.
