What is everyone's favorite period of FOW to play? And why!

Early/Mid war eastern front. Mainly because the game isn't dominated by the Monster Tanks yet and because it feels a bit more in the balance as opposed to late war where the Germans where firmly on the defensive.

*cough* KV1 *cough*
EW gets my vote as it's the most different period and some of the "steampunk" looking tanks are to wonderful not to love. Also some of my favourite battles are EW with the Winter War, Create, Early Desert and Barbarossa.

Early war japan, i dont mind facing mid war though (a bit one sided usually). Early war is best I reckon.

Mid War is my period of choice. I enjoy playing the North African theater, and I think Mid War is probably one of the best balanced periods. It's also a period in which a lot of the really powerful units, like Tigers, are very expensive in terms of points, so if you decide to use units like that, you're going to be making some major sacrifices elsewhere.

I always find Late war tends towards PANTHERS. Which i find dull, I'm also seeing the same with Centurions in FoaN.
The funny thing is, they both have weaker armour than other tanks but's the high AT and FP which seems to swing it. That said I have Centurions and Panthers in my collections so I'm as much a problem as everyone else.
I do want to grab an Early War Panzer and an Early British RTR boxed set. It amazes me how quickly technology advanced during 1939 to 1945, necessity is the mother of invention and all that.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest! |

I've only played LW so far, but the EW period is by far the most interesting for me. One of my long-term goals is to put together an EW British force using the BEF list, but modeled on Commonwealth forces stationed in East and Southeast Asia, in the hopes that an EW book for that theatre is one day released.

True the KV-1 is a bit of a monster, but it’s at least balanced out somewhat by being unreliable and slow. In FOW terms it’s also stupidly expensive. When we finally see a Barbarosa book I can’t imagine their being many armies composed entirely of KV-1's. I also like the weird looking contraption tanks of early war. A T-35 has 4 turrets on it, 4 turrets!

I know what you mean about the KV, it's just a surprise the first time you face it in Mid War. And how can you not like T-35 and T-28's for that matter, they just look awesome!
