A buddy of mine is in need of a good 1500 point ork list. Im not really sure whats good for orks so I figured Id post on here and get some help.

he has:

2 warboss (can be proxied as big mek, wierd boy etc)
15 nobs
25-55 boys depending on how many he feels like glueing together lol ( can be burna, shoota boys, choppa boys etc)
1 trukk
1 battlewagon
1 "vehicle" can be used as either
6 deffkoptas
10 lootas (some boys could probly be proxied in as lootas)

sadly no dakkajets. obviously things can be proxied if its easy to identify or remember.

any suggestions on a good list?
help is appreciated!

That's a good start.

I'd prefer to put the Mek in the Battlewagon, but that's intended for the Warboss and Nobz. I'm fuzzy on if you could put the Mek, Warboss, and Nobz all in the Battlewagon to take advantage of the KFF 5+ save, and then leave the Mek in there when the Warboss and Nobz pop out. (anyone?) If so, the Trukks could also take advantage of the KFF save, and the Mek would remain relatively safe. You could also stick the KFF Mek with the Shoota Boyz to make a tough objective holding unit for the mid-field.

I'd not overhaul a wagon that much, really. And 50 boyz ain't enough usually. Nobz are best used on bikes with bikerboss. This unit alone is gona wreck havok and be the core of your offence combined with battlewagon shootaboyz. But since you have just plain nobz...i've noticed they sometimes happen to work as a retinue to a megaboss. But keep in mind that atm our core elements that work are:

-Nob bikers with Bikerboss
-Shootaboyz in battlewagonz - the more wagonz - the better

This is gona work. Without doubt. Can have some overhaul on the boss like attack squig depending on points of a game. The more points - the more boyz you need and the more things like koptas you can use. Koptas are better used in smallest squads possible. U can find discussions bout koptas in tactical thread if interested in details. Overall - the fewer - the better. Bigshootas are not worse than rokkits but rokkits might be useful from time to time mostly for sniping out stuff.

If he has no biker models you can go for nobz with megaboss probably in a trukk hiding behind wagonz:

Add more boyz or koptas if you want but boyz are more preferable. This will also work but simple nobz are << than nob bikers.

Yeah, good point koooaei. Since it sounds like he doesn't have any bikers, the second list should work. He could bring 3 more Deffkoptas with TL-Big Shootas with that extra 106 points. Or, since it sounds like proxying is OK, bring a unit of Big Gunz. 60 points for a unit of Kannons, or 75 points for a unit of Lobbas; tack on a Runtherd for Ld checks and ammo runts for rerolls. I love Lobbas.

Invariably, when I play Orks vs. Orks, the player with the most basic slugga boyz wins...Every time! our best asset is the attack characteristic...4 attacks for every charging boy. adds up quick

correct on the no bikers part.
proxies are not an issue at all, wed rather be able to have a fun balanced game with friends than nitpick about models. as long as its easy to indetify after being told whats what at the start.....its all good!

The armies our group plays are: SW, tau, CSM, some IG and rarely necrons. If that changes/helps with list design?

You can always proxy the deffkoptas as bikers, they are about the same size.

If not I would go something like this.

20 boyz, nob, pk, bp, 2 big shootas = 170
20 boyz, nob, pk, bp, 2 big shootas =170
Battlewagon, deff rolla, 2 big shootas = 120
Battlewagon, deff rolla, 2 big shootas = 120

Warboss w/ PK, Cybork, BP, kombi-skorcha = 105
Big Mek w/ KFF, Cybork = 95
7 nobs, painboy, all cyborks, waagh banner, 2 PKs, 4 kombi-skorchas = 320
Trukk w/ ram = 40

10 lootas = 150
3 deffkoptas = 105
3 deffkoptas = 105
1500


Actually I dont have the codex with me, so you may consider upgrading those deffkoptas some with either rokkit-launchas or buzzsaws. But the idea is to run two full battlewagons forward with the HQ trikk hiding behind them. The kff will provide some cover saves for the vehicles and then when you get to where you need to be you just unload and begin the krumping. Also the nobs become troops because you have a Warboss in the mix.

Watch out for flame weapons. They can really ruin an Ork player's day. My buddy plays CSM, and has spoiled many of my charges with flame weapons in Overwatch. The Tau and IG will shoot at Orks, but aren't so great in CC so if you can get in close to them they should go down.

Atm shootaboyz are much better than sluggas. Especially for footslogas. From my experience, they're better in almost any case except probably for when you got a few left and you need to glance the tank to death right now and here it is in front of you...still 4 attacks instead of 3 - not much better. But lotsa shots and 2 times better overwatch are making shootas much more versatile and effective. Anywayz, even if choppas will be made worthy once again, i don't think u'll stop needing shootaboyz.
