I was thinking about eldar and it hit me that why dosent the eldar team up with tau like the kroot I know the fluff writters would never do this but is there a reason why they dont and why its a bad idea I dont read the fluff on either of them it would make them more powerful and I am aware that the game makers couldnt do this to eldar players but from a fluff view why dont they id like to know.

Major fluff reason is they believe ALL other races that came after them are "beneath them", little more than beasts or cattle or dupes of their own flaws (chaos).
They were CREATED they way they were. Designed in their form by their 'gods' who were real (at least to them). Their gods may have been an even older race - much gets lost in mythology.
Many of the other races are the way they are because they evolved that way. A haphazard way of getting from A to B from the eldar pov.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

The Eldar actually like the Tau, rather a lot. Some people believe this to mean that the Eldar had a hand in the Tau's rapid advancement. This is not to say that the Eldar view them as equals... far from it, actually... the Eldar actually have a sort of patronizing, protective attitude towards the Tau.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

One theory goes like this: the tau are the eldar's weapon against chaos. A Young race with no belief in gods and no vulnerability to being corrupted.
This gives them troops to manipulate while preserving eldar lives.

Eldar are like their counterpart, Elves. They don't see anyone as equal.

There is even some indication that the ethereals were created by the eldar. If the plot line ever progressed there probably would be a lot more usage of the Tau by the eldar. However the eldar see the rest of the races as little above animals. They can be trained, they can be used, but they will never rule the eldar and "alliances" with them are more like giving meat to a dog to do tricks.
There is also the fact that the Tau are not actually that powerful in the overall scheme of things. Compared to all the other factions the weakest factions in terms of numbers and material are the CWE and Tau. The only reason the CWE are relevant is their foresight, their mobility (the webway lets them pop in and out of conflicts and their craftworlds keeps their populations relatively safe which allows them to deploy much large portions of their armed forces), and the ease with which the other factions are manipulated. The Tau are only relevant because everyone else is busy.
