I was looking for battle report videos where big head honcho's went at it and I couldn't find any.

I'm curious to see one in particular. I'd like to see Calgar and Abaddon results.

If you have links to these type of match ups. Would love to see them.

Thanks

Entire thread based on this, abbadon wins against almost everyone. Aside from swarm lord, mind shackle scarab necron lord, and a few others.

In the end abbadon takes your lunch money.

That was old Swarmy. Abbadon now takes his lunch money too. Be'lakor and Skarbrand take Abby's lunch money though.

Abbadon. He goes first, gets at least 5 attacks (up to 12 if he charges) and had preferred enemy space marines.

He will kill Calgar in one turn, maybe two. The dice gods be willing of course.

Up to 13 actually.

4 base, 5 with two specialist weapons, 7 with rage, up to 13 with demon weapon D6.

I don't know abby but let's run the math

4's to hit

6.5, +.5 for PE hits

3's to wound

5 wounds with PE.

Marnie takes 2.5 wounds

Marneus dishes out 5 S8AP2 attacks, hit for 2.5 and wounds for 2. Abaddon has a 4+ invuln? he takes one wound. Unless he's T5 or eternal, he dies.

If I've missed some rule or other, point it out.

Well, six of one in this case haraldus.

is he WS7?

Otherwise he does about 3.5 wounds as of the second round of combat. if marnie's on 1 wound abbaddon is dead.

The only downside is his possibility to have an aneurism, but still no contest.

my math is incorrect then.

Does he have PE because of VotLW?

Yes, he also has it due to his 'Black Crusader' wartrait which gives him and all models within 12 inches it too.

And as for Rage, well you can tell how much I use the Mark of Khorne.....

He has Hatred, though, so he rerolls hits first round of combat.

He must be Warlord so we can assume he gets his PE.

Calgar is a fearsome foe in close combat, to be sure, but only when he's punching. When he's punching, he's going last. When you go after Abaddon in combat, he eats your face, usually.

What's really fun is sticking Abaddon in a squad rocking the Icon of Excess.

Calgar would struggle against a lot of the guys in Eldar codex, too, and many that are a lot cheaper than he is.

It would be close run, Abaddon strikes after the thirster but has a lot more attacks. Or he can use the talon, and wound the thirster on a 2+ re-rolling failed wounds.

The new Swarmlord still beats Abaddon greater than half the time. Greater WS, S, T, Wounds. Catalyst or Paroxysm usually, although Swarmlord wins without any psychic powers.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Actually I saw some of some other's postings that showed Abaddon would still win against a base swarmlord, wish I could find it again though so take what I say with salt.

Abbadon beats Calgar without trouble. There are few things that can stand up to Abbadon in close combat.
One of those things is Iron Father Smashfucker. He totally trashes Abbadon in close combat.

Nothing kills Calgar. He is protected by the USR:

'I am Calgar, har har har...I win'

That aside, there are a few Eldar that do well against Calgar as has been spoken about. Asurmen has a chance, albeit a small one(Usually a 1/12 for most decent Characters), to nuke anybody in close combat.
