Subject: Metal miniatures as hand-carry luggage on flights

Hi guys,
I'm planning a trip soon and was considering if I should check in my minis or hand carry them. The last time I checked them in with an army carrying case (battlefoam), one penitent engine broke into three.
I was wondering if anyone has had metal minis rejected as hand carry? The problem is that some of the minis have power swords which are pointy so I'm not sure if it is considered dangerous? Or if anybody can share their experience transporting their minis on planes?
Thanks in advance!

Put several mini's in my backpack when i went back to Japan, other than some strange looks at the scanner and some questions, because they could not figure out what they were.
I had no problems.

Only issue I ever heard of personally was a guy in my gamer circle had his bag examined due to two metal steam tanks (the bigger ones, right before they went plastic). Couple odd glances and they let him through. If those went through, you'll be fine with a couple power swords.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

They opened me up last time I was returning to Japan from the US. I had about a hundred of the metal Rackham models and aside from the curious security woman it was an unremarkable experience.

I've done it without issue.
Admittedly, it was the GenCon flight, so about 4/5 of the people on the plane were gamers of some sort.

I just took a flight back to school and checked all my minis. I had a tsa search notice in the bag but nothing removed. I would check them if you can. But when I opened my bags all of the super glue bonds were broken due to the temperature, so if you have anything glued try carry on. You can also call tsa and ask as I'm sure they've answered this question before, and in the worst case you could just choose to check your carry on after they say no.
