Apart from air trans, what is mandatory to make tmhis army competive. I have the army to put mostly together 1500 points, but as far as composition, what do the do well, and what to avoid? Thanks for the help.
I assume you are using the imperial armour 3 second edition list to run your drop troops?
I also gather from what you wrote that you want something other than an air cav list?
By a no "air trans" do you mean no flyers or just no flyer transports?
With the idea of no flyers then I would recommend a platoon with a commissar with locator beacon on the ground. Perhaps an infiltrating vets squad with beacon or two for forward beacons. Then spam a bunch of MM and HF drop sentinels.
My normal experience with elysians is that the more vendettas and vultures you take the better. To keep me on the board I use valks with minimum inquisitor squads allied in with my vets from the elysian list in vendettas. Usually 2 valks (2 out of 3 DS turn 1) and 2 minimal henchmen squads hiding out of LoS in board corners is more than enough to keep me in turn 1. I also recommend an astropath to help get the turn 2 flyers in or a comms relay.
There is a rumor going around that the Amphelion Project forgeworld book may be in line to get an update this year. The D-99 Elysians (aka the only good ones) were in that book so you might get a boost mid year if you start the army.
I think D-99 with as much Imperial Navy as you can fit in is probably the way to go. Sabre platforms are pretty good as well but I'm not sure if they are airdropped or what.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.
