So here is the deal. I played 40k with a group of friends in 4th edition. One army that was never represented there was eldar. Me and a friend have been wanting to get back into it and I found a good eldar army online right before the new codex came out. So i took a chance on it and low and behold it turns out to be lauded as one of the best codexes this edition. The army is large, has some options magnitized, and is bloated in HS. I have enough to run it two ways, mech and foot. So here are my questions.

1. I have 4 big tanks, weapons magnitized. I want to run them as 3 fire prisms. I have 3 wave serpents, so i want to make the 4th main tank a serpent. These look like the same model with an extra piece on the back. Is that right? Can i just rip that off, or does it even matter if the weapon load out looks right?

2. I have 3 full squad war walkers weapons magnitized. I want to use then in a foot list. Have a bunch of both kinds of guardians too. Alot of storms. Should i even both with them or go ahead and order new arms and make them defenders?

3. Two small squads of warpspiders or one big one?

4. Dont have any cc units. Maybe not even needed this edition, but i'd like something to counter charge especially in the foot list. Wraithblades, scorpions, harlies, or ally in some DE?

5. Having trouble keeping the weapons straight. Any online eldar resourse that are good. Especially with options pictured for vehicles.

6. Any advice in general or good resource i should check out?

1) Falcons, Wave Serpents and Fire Prisms have the same basic frame (like rhinos / razorbacks / whirlwinds / predators for SM), the WS comes with a longer back end and whilst you could rip it off you'd need to get the replacement part (other Eldar players might have spares) or be left with a hole.
Alternatively, as long as the weapons look right and you mention it to your opponent, they might not have a problem with it.

2) You'll get more mileage (in the Internet's opinion) from Defenders than Storms, but depending on your list you might not need loads - see how many defenders you have / need before worrying, and you should be able to pick up defenders reasonably cheaply (especially if you sell the Storms you don't need. They aren't a great unit but the bits aren't readily available so you might get interest).

5) From top to bottom:
Heavy Weapons - Shuriken Cannon, Scatter Laser, Star Cannon, Eldar Missile Launcher, Bright Lance (longer version = Pulse Laser - not shown)
Support Weapons (metal two at the bottom) - Vibro Cannon, Shadow Weaver (don't have a D-Cannon to hand, sorry)

First thing is to find out how "hard" or competitive your friends want to play list wise, the worst thing you can do is find yourself at odds with how the group wants to play and Eldar have a couple of power builds that are true tourney winning lists.

1. Yeah, the chassis are all pretty close, I personally just magnetized the turrets and picked up some Forge World ones to form the base for if I ever want to run them as serpents.

2. Once again it depends on how hard the lists are gonna be, Storms are under performing compared to Defenders who aren't superstars in their own right but if you aren't playing high end competitive lists you should get plenty of mileage out of them.

3. I'd go one big one, small squads are too easy to lose a guy or two and have them break, plus there's lots of other cool things that live in Fast Attack.

4. Wraithblades look so cool, the new Wraith kit is really nice, I got a unit with Swords and they can really blunt an attack with high toughness as long as it's not a serious dedicated elite melee killer and if you take a Spiritseer to make them troops and lead them you even have the chance to allow them to take on 2+ saves with the right seer power.

5. Quanar has you covered there.

6. There's a couple of good eggs and threads on here if you can get past the hatred. Eldar have gotten a bad rep for not needing tactics due to the tourney scene but if you just ignore those posts you should be able to sieve a couple of diamonds from the rough

Nooooo dont turn the wave serpent into a fire prism. Thats diabolical. And why would you want to do that? Wave serpents are so good D:
