Hello, I am a new warboss, and working with a tight budget, which should I get more boyz or nobs

I currently have 20 shoota boyz 5 lootas and a warboss ( I finally convinced my opponent to let me proxy so can count as a big mek) and I am wondering if I should get 10 more boyz or 5 nobs?

any input is appreciated

Ah, I see you have run into the great Mephiston, Lord of Cheese! Not to worry, that block of chedder can be tied up easily with 30 boyz, can get his ass handed to him in a match with Ghazzy, and can be squigified with Zogwort. How satisfiying would that be? ....Squigfiston, Lord of gak...

With Orks More Boyz is always a good answer..
They give you the greatest flexability and each box of 10 also has a NOB ..so eventually you have a few extra ...
at the stage your at I would say ..
2 more boxes of boyz then another box of lootas
Then look to other stuff ..or if you can save it up wait and grab a battleforce box ..

Automatically Appended Next Post:
you are going to want at least 60 ork boyz minimum down the road for your ork force ..other units ehh dunno ..will know after the ork codex drops later this year

Tell your friend some guy on the internet says he's been playing the game wrong.

MegaNobz can be good, Biker Nobz are amongst the best thing in the codex, only a few players will recommend vanilla Nobz and I'm not one of them.

Boyz are definitely something you want. Just scoop up all the cheap ebay boyz and then add bits to get anything you want.

United States

Buy two trukkz. It isn't optimal but you could field 500 point games.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

Totally agree with Dakkamite.

Boys are the way to go. About another 20 will give you two decent sized squads.

You can find a LOT of products cheap on eBAY. If I paid full price at GW, I'd be in the poor house..

I would suggest trying to pick up an Ork Battle force if you can for cheap. It's pretty nice, coming with 2 squads of boys, a truck, and 3 bikers. They're all great units in my opinion.

Failing that, more boys. There's an old saying that goes "Boys before toys." In my experience, more truer words have never been spoken. It's amazing what a mess of shootas can take down that a squad nobs can't.

"Just the act of orks looting it defiles it! There are Techpriests rolling over in their graves!" "Yeah! I'm rolling over them in their graves!"
"The usage of shipping containers is much like 40k technology: It's been handed down from tech-priest to tech priest, until none of us really remember how it works and we go through many pointless rituals in the belief that it will keep it alive. " - Dayspring

U need both. Bikernobz and shootaboyz. If you just get boyz - u'll lack speed and punch. If you just get bikernobz - you lack bodycount.
I'm not even considering regular nobz and meganobz right now. Cause regular nobz are used only when you don't have anything else or want an extra battlewagon. And you want an extra battlewagon when you allready have 3 of them. And meganobz are also used in small squads of 3-4 as a truck missile or once again a battlewagon. Thus if you get regular nobz or meganobz - you still need to buy transport for them. While bikernobz just need bikes and are way more effective than the other two.
U can't go wrong with bikernobz. a squad of 5-6+painboy and bikerboss are the much cheaper (for irl money) core of the ork army than wagonboyz. And currently we got just 2 core options: bikernobz and wagonboyz.

For your specific scenario I don't think 5 nobz is enough, I think you have to go to the full 10. In that instance of a tight budget adding 10 more boyz helps your army more than 5 nobs.

(For the end goal of a 2k army)

I'd say expect to get about 80boyz at least.

I suggest you get battleforces for some savings.

Take the bikers from the battle forces, use the biker boyz to convert some looted vehicles up, or scratch build a few dakka jets w/e. Do something with em.

Keep the bikes and make Biker Nobs.

Biker Nobs are one of the best units in the ork codex.
