My thoughts:
Mr. Tyrant will sit at the back and move forward where and when needed for his psychic powers and synapse. He will mostly be playing the sniper game, just being a thorn in my opponents side and doing his best not to give up warlord. He is not an attack tyrant. I don't like fliers or FMC. I play Necrons too and don't use a single scythe. Just don't like them. Tervigon with his poisoned (2+) template and stinger salvo will outflank and spawn gants. This gets me some forward synapse. I line everything up so my opponent will have to chew threw the first line of gaunts or give everything I have a 3+ cover save except for the front row of gaunts. The 2 venomthropes will have a MINIMUM of 27 inch range of their cover bubble. This is assuming the edges of their cover bubbles are just barely touching, which isn't too likely to happen. Warriors deploy their lawnchairs in some terrain near an objective or something, and only have the barbed strangler warrior exposed who will hurl spit balls and harsh language at the enemy while they shake their fists in the air. These are also providing backfield synapse and half decent backfield protection, they will chill with the Tyrant until he advances. Gargoyles push up as fast as possible trying to create pressure and hopefully giving cover to my big boys and taking some of the heat off of them. 21 gargoyles so loosing 5 wont make them take a check. Hopefully they can tie something up for a while so my heavy hitters can tear the battle field up. Keeping synapse on them shouldn't be hard, I can use dominion if it need be, but I think they will be OK. Venoms hug cover and provide cover. I try to keep Zoanthropes out of LoS and buffing my units, and maybe a warp lance or blast shot if we get that close with them. Biovores try to pin troops to make their shooting less effective, and spore mines in my opponents backfield are fun. These guys can also try to get rid of those pesky expendable backfield troops that hold the objective way back there, or play Artillery tag with a TFC, but I feel that is a better target for my outflanking wave. Now here comes the one part that makes me hesitate. The Exocrine. I originally had no devourers, 20 gargoyles, and 15 gaunts to give me an extra 50 points, and removing the exocrine gave me a total of 220 points. I originally wanted to put 2x Dakkafexes in, they would be my only real flyer defense and put out a lot of fire on turn 2, especially with onslaught. I was 80 points short, so I was trying to decide between a single dakkafex, a tyrannofex, and an exocrine. One dakkafex doesn't seem like it would last long. A Tyrannofex would last margianally longer with its 2+ save, especially if given regen with extra points. The exocrine had a slightly longer range than the rest of the guys, and provides range and firepower this list lacks. However, I've never been a big fan of the exocrine. He just seemed like a red herring to me. What do you guys think of this? I feel the 2 dakkafexes would have been better, and the Tyrannofex seems a little redundant when compared to all the AP4 ignores cover I already have, especially with the outflanking miasma cannon tervigon. This is my first try at a 6th edition Tyranid list. Thanks.
