So I recently delved into the game of Nercomunda with a RPG group member of mine and his friend. Saying this, I relatively enjoyed this classic game from GW (liking it much better than 40k and fantasy, which I dropped earlier of last year). That being said, knowing that the models are hard to come by, I am planning to use some Space Marine scouts as either Van Saar/Enforcers and the Chaos Cultist from Dark Vengeance as a Chaos Cawdor gang, which my people I am playing with said was fine.

I was wondering what you guys thought of this?
Thanks!

I use the Catchatans (or however you spell them) for my own custom house and gang, but they would make great Orlocks or Goliath's! I'm pretty sure you could use the empire free militia as a ratskin gang with a bit of work!

I was planning to use the Idrian Skirmishers from the Protectorate faction from Warmachine with a bit of work if I ever did Ratskins. Only problem might be the base sizes with that if I wanted to use them in both games. That and the new plastic ones they have out now.

I don't think you would have a problem with base size in Necromunda. It's, for the most part, a fun non competitive game (at least compered to 40k) so the base size shouldn't matter. Just check with your gaming group first!

True, in which the 5mm difference between GW 25mm round bases and PP's lipped 30mm bases are not too drastic. Still will ask though just for courtesy.

I saw some of the models and liked but some of them are not in USD so I am not sure I can buy them.

Well with that amount of miniatures, there has to be some of them which are easy to buy?

Anvil Industry with their Cawdor looking gangs. Like the Heresy miniatures, but not sure if they will take USD. Some the of Statyx raiders with the right amount of conversion work might make a good Escher gang. I do play infinity as well, and although I think the models are pretty amazing, they kind of would be hard to fit it in there (well, unless I did a Highlander Golaith gang).

I own a lot of Necromunda figs and I just started my goal of collecting all of them. I started out with my only gang esher and now have over 70 unique figs. I haven’t actually found it hard to source the original minis. You just have to be patient and wait for a good deal. I also asked a lot of the “old timers” at the flgs I frequent if they had any extras or duplicates for trade. Whenever I travel I make a point to stop into Game stores and look. I scored a brand new box of scavvies at 20% off the normal GW price for my effort. Also I just ask around. They are out there and in my opinion worth collecting. I shouldn’t tell you this stuff since all you will be is more competition for me, lol. But I love the game and want as many people to collect and keep in alive.

I was thinking of starting a Necromunda doubles trading forum. Since I have some doubles of my own and would love to trade them for some figures I don’t have.

I got the Not-Delaque gang from Heresy during one of their bundle sales...now I'm the proud owner of the whole collection. I paid via PayPal and there was no issue at all. I love them. I only have about half-dozen of the originals.

I think I'm missing one Escher pose, and one of the original Cawdor poses...I have a couple of ratskins, and have the old metal Catachans to use as Orlocks (as well as 2 each of the original Orlock heavies which, ironically enough, I got for my 2nd Ed. Catachan army). I didn't like the Goliath's originally, and don't own any now...But the original sculpts (not the specialist games re-sculpts) really grew on me recently and play on that little nostalgic side of my collector's psyche. I hope to eventually get all of the models...but they tend to go for high prices on EvilBay.

I'm not sure Satyxis raiders would be your best bet for Eschers...the detail is a bit muddy, especially the faces. Nothing like the Jes Goodwin sculpts of the original line. I would be more inclined to use the plastic Dark Eldar Wyches (which, just happen to be sculpted by Jes Goodwin as well). There are some Reaper and Dark Age figs that might fit into that aesthetic as well with some weapon swaps and a little conversion work.

As far as base sizes go...I would go with the original 25mm round GW bases, or equivalent. Close combat is brutal in Necromunda, a larger base might give you an unfair advantage. Height is also a major issue with the true line of sight rules...so depending on how much you build up your base (I used scenic industrial bases from Micro Art Studio), you may or may not be giving your model a shooting advantage, or a cover disadvantage, etc.

Yeah, I was planning to lean towards that as well for the 25mm round GW base. Also might want to make my Escher if I ever do that is into kind of a Japanese School Girl gang with swords and that just to be a bit silly with it.

I would like to own the original models and that, but it seems easier to convert and make count-as until gets attention again (HA! As if...) for the time being...
