This is my first Phoenix Guard. I'm starting a new army and this is the first model I've painted. I'm using these models to work out the color scheme for my Dragon Princes which I'm going to enter in the Crystal Brush painting competition.

Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

Nice work. I like the bronzed armour and the highlighting on the cloak is nice. Maybe a wash on the face would improve that area, but other than that it's great (and faces aren't that relevant when you've got blocks of warriors)

Looking clean! Loving the contrast of the bright blue and the muted bronze/red.

Thank you. I was trying to go for a platinum look on the armor. I need to make a light setup so I can photograph it properly. The halberd shaft is actually painted gold, although in the picture it looks brown.

Ahk. IIRC, is platinum not more silver than brown? Maybe that's what you were talking about with the photographs, haha. Either way it's a great job!

Yeah, its more the photo, but I probably still have to perfect the formulae. Or maybe just buy platinum paint. lol

Yeah, looks mint either way. Platinum paint would be the shizzle, haha.

I bought some new paint. I bought the P3 Radiant Platinum. Now I need a new unit to use it on, since I'll probably leave the Phoenix Guard as is.

Coolio. Keep the Phoenix guard with the current metal - looks dopamine!
