Is there any reason in a Taudar force to ever take Dark Reapers over a Riptide?

5 x Dark Reapers with the Starshot Missiles is the same cost as an Iontide with EWO.

What reasons might you take the Reapers for? I like their little masks, but that's not very tactical...

I'm pretty sure they ignore jink, so I guess maybe if you play against a lot of bike armies then the AP 3 and ignore jink could be useful since Reapers don't use markerlights.

Dark reapers are good. With a buffmander they can make marines just disappear and do a number on most vehicles. But they are pricy, immobile, and pretty fragile. They will dish out more damage than a riptide but a riptide will suck up more fire power, has more mobility and can help get linebreaker or contest objectives which is the way taudar wins most the time. Biggest reason not to buy the reapers for me is that they are $40 for 5 finecast figures. No thanks. But if you like the models get them. If you want to see if they are viable, ask if you can use some other model as a proxy and see if you like the way the unit works? The worst thing that can happen is you spend 3 or so games with a unit you don't like.
