So question.
Necrons' reanimation protocol triggers at the end of each phase correct? I looked at my friend's codex and this seemed to be the case. Being that it happens at the end of a phase if I kill 25%+ of his unit in one assault he has to do a leadership test AND pass it before he gets the reanimation protocol right? I can infer then that if he fails the check and I sweeping advance him then he can't reanimate because his whole unit is dead?
I am about 90% sure I am correct but that well worded rulebook kills me sometimes lol.
Thanks for the help!

If a unit falls back or is wiped out, all ressurection protocols counters are removed as if they had failed to resurrect.

A failed morale check removes all RP counters, be it in the shooting phase or the assault phase. But EL counters remain.

Unless you catch them in SA, when even EL models are destroyed

If a unit falls back it loses any RP it can make.If a unit is in assault you need to pass a LD if you lose combat to see if you can make RP. EL rolls can still be made regardless of failed tests

I think you are confused, if caught in a SA an EL model is removed from play which was FAQed to be the same as remove from play as a casualty so they drop EL counters.

Incorrect, and I am not confused on this matter.
They would drop EL counters, apart from the line saying "..np special rule....." - EL is a special rule, and does not specifically (unlike ATSKNF) state it igets around SA.
Or, if you want they can drop EL counters, but any attmept to bring the model back brings you foul of this rule. The end result is the same - EL does not help against SA. Youre still dead, and for you the battle is over.

EL does not stop them from dying, and the only thing that even implies that they couldn't be brought back is the 'battle is over for you' thing which it is debatable what exactly that is supposed to mean.
In either case even if your right it would not stop the EL models that died before the sweeping advance from coming back.

Oh hey it's this thread again!
I like to take all my EL counters and stick them inside a drop pod whose doors may or may not be blown off. So depending on your interpretation of "For them the battle is over" and "The hatches are blown off" he is either dead or alive, but you might not be able to see the results either way.
I call it the Schrödinger's Overlord thought experiment and while my opponent tries to puzzle it out I usually just steall all the objectives and move them to my side of the table.
The original question has been answered - any chance we can just direct the poster to review any of the Ever-living vs. Sweeping advance arguments rather than hash it all out again?

(Emphasis mine) That is not what it says, and this misinformation is the main reason that people think the doors need to be open. It says "The hatches are blown" It does not mention the word open or off.

If sweeping advance states removed as casualty or rules are null n void including things like but not limited to Eternal Warrior and Reanimation Protocols. As they all apply to wounds caused not removed as casualties

Off topic, but you don't have to kill 25%+ of his unit to cause a leadership check in assault.
You just have to cause more wounds than them.

Note: EL counters on royal court characters attached to units are lost when their unit falls back.

The EL counters are removed when falling back only if the unit retreats off the table edge. Otherwise EL counters stay.

You're right.
When I was first starting necrons people in the hobby told me that I lose my RP and EL counters if my unit falls back. This is how I've been playing them for the past 4 months. Royal Court fails ld? Necron lords are now dead.
Someone even showed me the FAQ but it appears my eyes and his too missed the part about the board edge.
I guess this is what I get for not reading the RP section in my codex thoroughly. Well, looks like he'll be in for a surprise this weekend now...
