What are the going commission costs for tau models?

Assuming all models are assembled and painted to a bit beyond table top standard.

For example, crisis suits, rip tides, fire warriors, ect

I honestly have no idea what this is worth.... any one have a good idea?

They dont base it on race but for average table top with only painting I think its like 7 dollars a model average (US)

I got mine done in bulk for 10 dollars a model and that included conversions, highest paint job, assembly, basing and shipping. So its very expensive.

And thats for just 25mm base sized models.

10 bucks a model is not expensive. I average out around 2-3 hours per model on most jobs. I don't do that for 10 bucks...

from what I have done (which is all my models) 10 USD was by far the most expensive per model I have ever done. I have only done 25mm bases though.

Just looked at your models and they do look good, maybe im just looking at a lot of not mega high quality painters, but most painters I have used charge 10 USD a model for everything.

This is my latest and it cost me 10USD a model and that covered the cost of everything, I just sent him the bits.

The question for you is, what do you expect from a painting service? If you want a uniformly painted army that people will look at and say to themselves, hey this guy is serious and maybe applaud you for painting your entire army, painting services might be for you. However, if you want people to be able to pick up any model off the table and look at it closely and think your models look amazing. Painting services aren't for you, unless you want to spend a fortune on individual model commissions. Very few people paint competition level models for commission, and those that do will want to be payed well for their service.

Painting services are also notorious for taking exorbitant amounts of time. And frequently putting out poor quality paint jobs. So caveat emptor.

A lot will depend on the person doing the painting and what their commission work is to them.

Some people do commissions as a night/weekend thing, simply because they enjoy painting or to help support their hobby. Others are actually running a business. When you are running a business, you have a lot more going on, and have to charge more. The upside is that turn around tends to be faster and more reliable.

Both can tet the job done well enough, but it isnt uncommon to pay much more then $10 per figure if the money is being taxed, covering various business related expenses and actually feeding a persons family.

The other thing of course is if you have an existing relationship with the painter. From time to time I will paint an army for someone who I game with. It might be valued at several hundred dollars, but I may do it for a fraction of that. The specific reasons vary based on the person, but it is due to who they are more than the work involved.
