WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!! DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA!!! KILL DE OOMIES!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHH!!!!!!!

Okay, now that I've cleared that out of my system, I'd like to start off by saying I'm a first time poster here and that this site looks really cool.
Anyways, I'm going to just get straight to the point.
I want to make a list that will include a bunch of fun items in it that games for me wouldn't be complete without, but at the same time to still be able to defeat my main rival (my brother).
For those who are interested, he plays Dark Eldar and runs a very competitive list. Some of the main weapons in the list include an Archon with a 2+ inv save with a squad of invincible incubi in a venom pretty much with all poison attacks. The rest of his list basically is composed of witches/other troops in venoms which out dakka my orks completely while remaining mobile. He also managed to fit in a couple reavers and a few other units, but basically his army is SUPER ing powerful.

Alright, now with that in mind, here is the list I've made:

HQ
Wazdakka - 180pts

Elites
3 Nob Bikers w/ PKs + Eavy Armour - 110pts

15 Lootas - 225pts

Troops
10 Grotz w/ runtherd - 40pts

20 Ork Boyz w/ BS, RL, and Nob w/ PK, Bosspole - 175pts

3 Warbikers - 75pts

Fast Attack
3 Deffkoptas w/ twin-linked rokkit launchas + 1 bigbomb - 150pts

Heavy Support
Battlewagon w/ deff rolla, RPJ, Grot riggers, armour plates, kannon, 3x BS - 155pts

Looted Wagon w/ boomgun, BS, ard case, RPJ, Grot riggers - 130pts

Total: 1240pts

I stopped at 1240 because I'm not sure what to add on to the list.
Currently, my horde seems a bit small so maybe another mob of 20-boyz sounds good.
Then, since he says his transports are open-topped, I was thinking either another unit of lootas or a unit of burna boyz. The flames would go into his poonee little elduhr shipz and burn the poonee little elduhr.
I was also perhaps thinking of adding in a Big Mek w/ custom force field to accompany a unit of boyz who may or may not have enough of a budget to get a transport so that they get some protection from incoming fire.

However, overall my bro's list counters everything I have going for me. He counters my mobility by being Dark Eldar. He counters a potential horde by having hundreds of shots per turn. He counters lots of wounds or heavy armour by having poison EVERYTHING. And he counters vehicles by having dark lances on his.

What can I do? What's the best bet of beating him? And, if there truly is no hope for me, what is the most stupidly insane way for me to go kamikazi on his ass and take us both down?

Battlewagon spam beats everything. So as nob bikers do. But Wazdaaka is unfortunately not really great. I'd just stick with a regular bikerboss with a pk and cybork. If u're in for nob bikers - take at least 4-5 and a painboy. No use of taking fewer. Nob bikers basically got 3++ from stuff that ain't ignoring their cover/armor or fnp. And eldar don't have such stuff. Regular bikers are a waste. Boomwagonz are a waste.
U'r list is fun but if you want to win so hard go either battlewagon spam or nob bikers. And don't overhaul wagonz. The less they cost - the better. My wagonz just have a bigshoota and ram. 100 pts wagonz are best assault transports in the whole game. And bigshootas are better than rokkits vs armor 10. Lobbas are devastating vs eldar too. Especially at killing beastpacks or disembarked troops. Separating koptas also helps alot.

So, all in all: you got basically 2 options:
Nob bikers with boss or multiple nob bikers with bosses:

This lists are gona work vs anything. Including dark eldar. Now it's up to you.
Another option is greentide but i don't think it can work great in 6 edition all in all. However, might overwhelm dark eldar with sheer numberz.

Both of the above lists are rock solid with the possible exception of those Deffkoptas, I might borrow them if you don't mind. Did you leave off the Banner in list #2 on purpose or was that a mistake? You reckon the mek cover saves are worth it - I've been told repeatedly to not bother

As for beating Dark Eldar, 75% of my games are vs a better player who mains them (along with Space Wolves) and I win over half my games despite the skill difference. Dark Eldar are definitely a matchup we can handle.

I wouldn't run Green Tide - it'll *smash* Dark Eldar, possibly an auto-win, but god its a boring and tiresome build

The key is Lootas and Shootas. Dark Eldar are stuffed without their fancy flying transports and Lootas will smash those open extremely well. Once the puny gits tumble out our shoota boyz can pump them full of lead. As mentioned above, Lobbas are also great as the barrage nearly completely negates Dark Eldar mobility, concealment behind terrain etc

I'm just going to echo the lootas suggestion as against DE that is what will win it for you. If you have the slots available split your loota unit into multiple smaller units.

Double Fine Adventure, Wasteland 2, Nekro, Shadowrun Returns, Tropes vs. Women in Video Games, Planetary Annihilation, Project Eternity, Distance, Dreamfall Chapters, Torment: Tides of Numenera, Consortium, Divinity: Original Sin, Smart Guys, Raging Heroes - The Toughest Girls of the Galaxy, Armikrog, Massive Chalice, Satellite Reign, Cthulhu Wars, Warmachine: Tactics, Game Loading: Rise Of The Indies, Indie Statik, Awesomenauts: Starstorm, Cosmic Star Heroine, THE LONG DARK, The Mandate, Stasis, Hand of Fate, Upcycled Machined Dice, Legend of Grimrock: The Series, Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians, Cyberpunk Soundtracks, Darkest Dungeon, Starcrawlers

I have a KickStarter problem.

I've added koptas cause he has 3 of them
And they're actually not bad vs dark eldar both at dealing with transports and troops. They have around 20% to glance and 20% to pen av10 and that's counting a 5+ save. That's actually great for orkses. Besides, multiple small targets like koptas really annoy dark eldar. Cause shooting at them is alwayz an overkill and the eldar thinks: "Damn, this kopta has just immobilized my venom, i need to shoot it to death cause i got 6 more 10-10-10 vehicles floating around...but it's just a damn kopta that costs 35 pts and i'll shoot a venom that might kill 5-6 boyz at this 1 damn model! And what if i just shoot with kabalites? i'll need to go a bit closer than...but what if they don't kill it? The kopta might assault next turn!.." and his brain kabooms. I've had luck with koptas even vs tau - and they're really handy vs dark eldar.

I'm not a fan of taking banners cause i've noticed that nob bikers are usually an overkill even without it. And i try not to get caught with them in a fight vs dedicated mellee units that ain't thinned down beforehand. That's a matter of preferences ofc So you might as well take the banner - definitely won't harm the list and it looks fancy.

KFF mek got nerfed since last edition but he's still essential for wagon rush or footsloggas. He's worth every point for such lists. 5+ is massive when you depend on your wagonz so much. It's not alwayz possible to hide a wagon behind cover when you approach. Besides, not depending on woods makes the rush faster.

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but do you ever take boarding planks on those battlewagons? Can help make up for dropping the deff rolla

Definitely like the idea of "kabooming" my opponents brain, can definitely understand where your coming from there

Edit; oh yeah, why the slugga boyz? If you've found a way to make them ok on foot I'm very interested to know what it is

Oh, shootas ofc, just din't click to take shootas instead of choppas. Fixed Also added some thoughts on meks in the previous post.

I don't really see much use for boarding planks on wagonz. They might only be useful to dealing with walkers or a drive-by hitting of av 11+ back armor vehicles. In theory it might be useful. But in games i'm usually too far from other vehicles and would prefer to just move 6, disembark 6, shoot and charge. And wagon will act like a los-blocker if possible. Besides, i prefer to disembark from a wagon as soon as i get there. A wagon is very vulnerable when it's close to an enemy. If it's full of boyz - wagon's a prime target. If it kabooms - you got like 8 dead boyz and survivors clustered in 1 place. If it's wrecked - you ain't got much space to disembark and u're also clustered in 1 place.
In theory this planks might be useful from time to time. But every time you use it - u're threatened of loosing even more.

Bout slugas. I got so many of them since 5 ed that i use this guyz from time to time. In almost every situation they're worse than shootas. But rarely - they perform a bit better and help alot. Like when i was 6' away from a bunch of reaver jetbikes and i had like 10 boyz left. If i shot, i'd kill 1-2 jetbikes and would have problems with charging them. That'd be bad cause killing 1 or 2 wouldn't make big difference and boyz would have just been run down next turn. But when choppaboyz charged and 4 of them struck the blows - this 1 attack difference made the day. So they killed more bikers and so those guyz had to run away. That's an example of a rare occasion where choppas apear to be a bit better than shootas.
Choppaboyz can still be used either on foot behind wagonz or in trukks. But i find footslogging behind wagonz is better suited for stormboyz cause they can at least charge turn 2-3 simultaniously with wagonz.
Spoiler:
If you got enough shoota models - take shootas

Lose the koptas get a dakka jet! And either go full nob biker with pain boy or none at all!
And you need a big mek with kustom force field to get it across the board too!! Any points spare should be trown on boyz! A 30 mob is so hard to get rid of and so cheap aswell!!

keep it real!

Thanks for all the suggestions! I will write up a new list and then post it here. After that, it's time to beat my rival (I'll post the results here)!
