At this past weekend's LVO tournament, I had several opponents (whom were well-respected members of the community) "direct" wounds against my units in assault. That is, when I had multiple units in assault against theirs, they would pick which units suffered the wounds they dealt in assault (when they were in base to base with multiple units, obviously). At the time I let it slide, since it wasn't a big deal and we were very pressed for time. But looking back into the rules, I can't find anything to support this, and I vaguely remember that being an option in 5th, so I'm wondering if this is just a holdover. Is there something I'm missing? I don't see anything in the rules that allows this, and Allocating Wounds on p25 seems pretty clear to me that the choice is mine, not my opponent's.

Thanks in advance.

Page 28 of the rule book allows directing of attacks if your model is touching bases of two or more units. It's under the section of multiple combats. However if the model is in contact with bases of only one unit, he must direct his attacks against that unit.

Well, seems like it was a good thing that I assumed I was wrong!

Thanks.

And bear in mind he has to direct attacks, not wounds. So he has to choose who each model is swinging at before he rolls to hit, he can't just roll all his attacks and then choose where they go.
