This is my vanguard/space hulk theme list. Get lots of city/ruins terrain and let the sparks fly. I've always been a fan of a full scale genestealer infestation and i think these data slates working together would make for a kick ass game of survival I specially LOVE that I don't need to take a generic HQ letting me only field the vanguard organisms which is something i sorely missed being able to do in 5th ed.

Oh man that's pretty disgusting....That many pants stealing monsters in so many MSUs! Any plans against AV 14s though?

lictors and broodlords can rend land raiders.

S6 + 6 + D3 for lictors
S5 + 6 + D3 for broodlords

though honestly my plan is to go for all soft targets don't see many raiders in 6th ed yet maybe 1, so if i wipe everything else off the passengers will have to come out to play or i will attack till i rend them out of their raider.

But for the most part this is all vanguard fluff

meh looks like the list does indeed 'need' a primary detachment i was hoping that it didnt. since i didnt want to include units that arent part of a tyranid vanguard, taking death leaper as an HQ choice will disallow me from the awesome benefit of the assassin brood :(

You could still have a primary detachment with Deathleaper and a whole bunch of genestealers, you don't need the tyrant?

I just posted my list that is pretty similar to your first one. Looks like we had the same rough concept. I took a bunch of DS units to handle the heavy lifting and a firestorm redoubt to handle the flyers and any AV14.

Looks like your list would be fun to play though. Nice target saturation so that they can't kill every infiltrator in one turn of shooting +overwatch,

Have you thought about the Primary as this:

HQ:
Leaper

Elite
2x Forrest Lictor brood (5 lictor)

Troop:
2x 5 genestealer + broodlord

This still gives you a "pure" Vanguard list and all you loose is the Assassin brood and a hunting pack. You gain 2 big lictor packs and a broodlord.

Since local tournies are not using Dataslate formations but can use new "units" I am liking the large lictor broods.

Don't own that many lictors, and honestly really wanted to capitalize on the assassin brood + hunting pack synergy

I don’t do a lot of nids but I have to ask sense you need a primary detachment for your formations y not take 1 HQ and 2 Troops then fill the rest with your formations
Like a lictor or brood lord HQ and 2 gene stealers as troops then the rest is the formations so you can still do your original list just you know slightly altered.

Death leaper is the Lictor HQ and Unique, so he can't use him and the Assassin brood. Broodlord is not an HQ despite the name.


Akaiyou: What about Old One Eye? He can be a fluffy vanguard unit. Maybe the Hive Mind cam by to pick him up or his presence alerted the Hive mind to a food source. Also the fluff, has for some reason, hormiguants as a first wave creature, you could run to small broods cheap and use OOE LD 8 for their IB test. So you have a list like this.

HQ:
Old One eye 220

10 Hormie 60

That is a 340pt fluffy Primary AND lets OOE actually use his Warlord trait. Now you can use the Assassin brood and the hunting broods.
