Make it seven...a bit of a drive but traffic shouldn't be too bad on a sunday.

This was a fun little event with some really great guys.
I was not expecting to do that well considering my local meta really requires an all comers type list (our local league does not tell you until game time who or what your facing...so you really need to be ready for anything) and thats what i brought:
Strait IG, 1500 pts
CCS
PCS, 4 flamers
PISx2
Melta vets, demolitions, Chimera
Grenade launcher vets, Demolitions, Chimera
Plasma Vets, Chimera
Vendetta
Hellhound
Medusa
Manticore
Leman Russ Exterminator, Bolter Sponsons, Pask

The local Meta in that area uses Big walkers...an lots of them. Except the chaos player who brought 2 turkeys, the bugs who played 7 MCs, and an Eldar-IG player who ran Wraith Guard vs Knights.
The TO as a ringer brought something different for the local meta...Seer-Star ( i did not play him) But it was a common site to see 2-3 big guys in some combination of Riptides and Wraith Knights, with min troops (firewarriors and jet bikes) being reserved. I ended up playing Brian Cox's Tau (2 Riptides) game 1 and won that game based on secondaries (Warlord, Linebreaker, first blood). Round 2 I faced Adam gati's 2 Wraith Knights and a Riptide. Night fight turn one which hurt me...a lot. Adam's dice were hot and he made every save on his walkers until turn 3 when i started hurting the Tide (killing it on turn 5). By then however the 2 wraiths had pretty much walked thru my entire Army with only 1 or 2 wounds on each. I think a second Vendetta rather than the Hellhound would have helped alot.
Of note...the new Imperial Knights being classed as a Super Heavy are not going to be much use in events that don't allow Super Heavies...even though the other comparable Big MCs (Wraith Knights, Tides, Trygon/Mawlocs, etc) were stuffed into heavy support slots.
Perhaps if TOs nerfed the "D" assault weapon down to a simple S10 DCCW and instead....
Anyways Round 3 was against Travis' nice Eldar-IG army that used Wraith Guard instead of Knights. Turn 1 was Night Fight (again), but he made a huge mistake on his turn by moving 3 Serpents and 2 Chimeras in a tight little convoy. My Manticore got a 3-shot missile off into the middle of that parking lot while the Medusa adding a 4th S10 pieplate. That pretty much either wrecked or immobilized his army and it was a matter of mopping up min-sized squads on his side of the table after that.

It was different (and nice) getting out of my comfort zone and playing in a much different meta. Not to mention Nick runs a good show.
Pask was the star of the day for me. His increased BS along with the ability to to either add +1S against armor or reroll wounds on MCs forced my opponents to roll a lot of dice for saves. Had my round 2 opponent even rolled average I may have pulled out that round also.
And if i had a tail i would be a monkey. Just saying.

Hey DKelly, I feel for ya! I think I rolled saves as if they were all Fortuned, lol...Nothing you can do about dice, eh?

You have a really cool IG list but I wanted to say that you had a good number of Chimeras that come with Search Lights and I think you forgot to use them against me! That would have taken away any benefits of Nightfight I might have had and given you a pretty good chance to hamstring me early on =).

Yeah, I was thinking about that, but my heavy stuff was greater than 36" from your Knights.
Right now their is a controversy in the searchlight rules that many feel that even if lit, the 36" range is a hard limit (IMHO I think its the other way around...once lit every other unit can now see that one unit).
Having been round-robin in that p1ssing match a couple of times I felt it would not be a good idea to bring that issue into your guys FLGS.
At least until GW FAQs it (if ever).
Regardless, it was a good match and I got to play some pretty hairy lists that I suspect will be Tourny staples for some time to come.

doh I have work on the 15th. Requested the day off for april.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Kelly, it never hurts to check how a group rules on a matter, I'm sure you could have ran it by us and Nick would have made a ruling one way or another . I think in this case, we all would agree that searchlights=target is free game for your whole army! But anyway, it is good you are conscientious of how a flgs might be on a set of rules, hope to see you and your awesome IG around again!

Schadenfreude, hope to see you around again too, you'll have to learn to play your army without those FW units, lol...

Well, we went all in for "Total War" and had our worst turn out yet. Not sure if it was something about the date (being so close to Saint Patrick's Day celebrations), or if people were uninterested in playing "Total War". One player brought Void Shield Generators, but dropped them when nobody brought any Super Heavies or anything too scary.

We were slated to host a Feast of Blades Qualifier on April 6, but it has been nearly a month since we paid and have yet to receive anything from the Feast of Blades people. We may still hold it, but my guess is that it will be postponed. If this is the case, the April 6 tournament will likely be 1,750 points with Dataslates and 40k Approved Forgeworld but no Escalation or Stronghold Assault.

I'll provide more updates as they come!

I was going to go to this but, once I realized it was "Total War" I decided to pass.I came up with a super OP silly list in like 5 min and don't want to have games where its table or be tabled in 2 turns.I'm sure alot of people just didnt want to deal with stupid stuff ranged D can do to a normal game.

4 guys and myself. I opted to sit out so I could do some work, but if we would of had one more I would have played (and we would of had 6).

Eldar / Tau 1st
Eldar 2nd
Tau / Eldar 3rd
Necrons / Tau 4th

Every army had either Tau or Eldar represented with Necrons being the odd army in there. No Escalation, Dataslates, Stronghold Assault or Forgeworld. Just good old fashioned 40k.

All in all, people had fun and got to roll some dice. Not a bad way to spend Saturday.
